Deployment presents
I am getting ready to send my DH his CHristmas package and I cannot think of a small gift to send him for Christmas.... I sent him this little flag that he wanted but I want to include a few other things that will make him happy to open on Christmas.. Do you have any ideas?
I was thinking of getting him a book light to attach to his books so he can read at night, but thats all Ive gotten so far.
Any suggestions help! Thx

When you say little do you mean small in size or small in price? If you just want small I had sent H a new iPod for Christmas last year, and another thing I didn't send him but that he loves for deployment is his external hard drive. He has a crazy amount of movies on it so he can put them on his iPod for in his rack and stuff. I know electronics fair better on a ship though than in other deployment areas, so I don't know if those would work.
If you want some less expensive things, what about some new books to go with the book light. Or some new movies that have come out since he left.
One of my H's favorite things I sent him right after Christmas last year was a video I made that I put on a flash drive. I used my Flip camera when I was home at Christmas and got all of our friends and family on it, then put it together in a movie on the flash drive and sent that.
I sent H a PSP recently. He wasn't expecting it. I'm likely getting him games for that.
I also am sending him a can of snow. I don't know how it works, but I thought it was a cute idea.

I mean not too expensive.... And with a flash drive, they just plug it into any computer and can view it right? That sounds like a great idea!
Yeah it just plugs into a USB drive. He definitely said it was one of his favorite things.
I didn't know about the plugging into the public computer thing though so that's a good point. H has his laptop on board too so it wasn't an issue.
Ahh yah my H doesnt have his own computer... BLAH
Do you know if that's the same for an outside CD? Because you could always make the movie and put it on a CD and send it if that works. I just did the jump drive so he could use it to send pictures back to me on.

a cheap travel coffee mug, hot chocolate packets, starbucks instant iced coffee
a small pot (big enough to boil a few cups of water) --this is a strange one, but my husband didn't have any electricity etc his last deployment and he said he used this quite a bit--to heat up water for hot coco, to heat up chef boy r dee...heat up anything...may not be useful for your husband though
handwarmers--this also may not be very useful for your husband, but my husband gave them to his squad and went through an entire box of them in less than a month
magazines- I actually ended up buying a subscription and sending it to him(with other stuff too) every month when it came
DVD's of movies that have come out since he left
I made homemade fortune cookies--I don't have the recipe I used, but I'm sure google will bring up something that will work well for you
homemade card
TastyKakes (a dessert cake company that started near our hometown and you can't find them easily in other places) or another hometown favorite snack
One of my friends contacted TastyKake durring our Hs' last deployment and told them she couldn't find them to send them to him. They asked for his address and her address. They sent 3 huge boxes overseas to him and sent 2 huge boxes to her house.
They also told her they have worked out a deal with the AFFES and will start selling them on most bases around the US. They have also started selling them down here in GA at several of our grocery stores.
H says the favorite things from the boxes I sent him were magazines. I always tried to send a variety with different topics (like Popular Science, National Geographic, Men's Fitness, GamePro) . He said it was a great way to keep up with all the stuff going on.
I also send flash drives with pictures and the top 10 songs on the radio.

The USO actually has a free program where you upload pictures and create a photobook. It will send to any APO/FPO address. It won't arrive in time for Christmas because it takes a while to print, but it's a neat idea if he's going to be there for a little while.
That's awesome that TastyKake sent all that. They have finally started carrying them where we live now occasionally, but they only carry 3 or 4 different varieties...I guess I can't be picky though
He used to say this was the best though because it was more special than just from the states they were from HOME as in our hometown not where we currently live.
