Things that are "borrowed" to you..

My SIL, my sister, and my cousin have all been or will be passing on some baby stuff. I have started a list on who gave what so I can pass it back when done as I know my sister and cousin are probably not done having babies. However.....how do you keep track of clothes? Like baby clothes. The other stuff I can just write down but not sure on the baby clothes.

  • I have a really good memory when it comes to C's clothes for some reason. I can remember exactly where they came from. Although I didn't borrow any baby clothes --- we either have new, consigned or hand-me-downs. Maybe lay things out in groups -- by size and by who gave them to you --- and take pictures of them. It could be a good way to reference back to who gave you what :)

  • When I exchanged clothes with my friends, they put their name/initial in each article of clothing (if they wanted it back).  If you're borrowing from several people, you'll never be able to keep it straight.

    thanks to jennied :)

  • Clothing would be hard to remember if you were borrowing from different people.   I borrowed a friend's maternity clothing and just knew what was hers because she is more stylish than I am :)   Can you take a picture and file them on the computer?
  • My sister is borrowing a lot of my baby stuff and we marked the majority of things. If it had a tag we put my initials on them if it was tagless then we put a small dot from a sharpie in the same spot (on a seam and inside) in each piece of clothing. I have a pretty good memory as far as my children's clothing and other items go so if she has a question on something that is marked I know I could tell her what was mine and what wasn't.

  • My friend took pictures of the items from each person.  Than printed them off and put them in a cheap photo albumn with their name on the back of the picture.  No need to do a lot of writing.
