Random Christmas Tree Question

Do you hang ornaments at the very bottom so that they hang below the bottom branches, or do you prefer the bottom ornaments are "even" with the bottom branches?

Re: Random Christmas Tree Question

  • Pre-kids or post? LOL

I don't think I ever hung any so low that they'd hang below.....but now we're putting them up high :)

  • haha Naylon, I hear you! We put only "kid friendly" ones towards the bottom this year, but even then I was in a lot of (back) pain when we were decorating so I mostly supervised. We have ornaments hanging under the branches and it's driving me crazy. I think I might "fix" it tomorrow when DH is at work. ;)
  • Along the same lines as naylon... pre-cats or post-cats?  LOL

There's no way I could let anything playfully dangle below the branch line and have any hope it wouldn't be batted down and chased around the house.

  • Sometimes I have ornaments hang below the tree. However, they usually get knocked off once presents get put under the tree.
  • I hang them so they are just even with the bottom branches.
  • We let them hang below the bottom branches.  Winston played with them the first day our tree was up (yesterday) but has since forgotten about them.  He's more intent on attacking our stuffed Rudolph.

  • Rarely hang on the bottom branches.

We have only used about 1/2 of our ornaments this year. A lot of my good quality ornaments are not coming out for my fear of them shattering. Many of them are from my grandparents which I don't want to loose... Kid friendly ones low. Breakable but don't have huge meaning or are not that valuable are up high.

I have many christopher radko, crystal, belek ornaments that I would be so sad to loose and the tree just isn't the same whithout those sparkles. But we are putting many sparkly icicles on the tree to make up for it.

Oh I take it back, we put icicles on the bottom branches.

  • Usually I don't like things hanging below the tree, but this year Alex helped decorate, so there are lots of ornaments, garland, lights, hanging below and in a mish mash on the tree.

  • I hang some below, the stuffed animal types. Our cat loves to play with them.
  • We have a few that hang below the branches, but I usually move them up when I put presents under the tree and the ornaments are in the way. All of our kid friendly ornaments are on the bottom half of the tree, so we're not worried about them getting broken!
