Why am I freaking out ?!?!
So, since my company offers flexible working arrangements and some women in other departments work from home a couple of days a week. So, I decided to throw out a feeler to my boss. If he shot down the "work from home" option, I would ask to change my hours so that I wouldn't be hitting so much traffic.
Well, it seems like I will be able to work from home at least 1 day a week. I am over-the-moon excited about spending more time with the baby & also saving $ on gas. However, part of me is freaking out that this may hurt my career. I'm the only woman in our department and I honestly do not have enough work to justify my position being full time (someone could easily take it over). I honestly didn't think he would go for this but it seems he is. I have to train someone over the next month and now I'm worried that this kid may just take over my job in general.
Ugh, maybe I shouldn't have asked to do this?

Re: Why am I freaking out ?!?!
Well, in my opinion, if he decides to fire you then thats what is meant to happen. You can always find another job, but Gabby is only going to be a baby once and the time that you can spend with her is more important than a job.
That probably sounds bitchy but, I think if he's going to fire you, he's going to fire you and it doesnt really matter what you do so you should just look out for whats best for your family first and foremost.
Personally, I would voice my concerns. I would tell him that you may be overthinking things but you're worried the working home one day a week may jeopardize your job. This way you can gauge his reaction to your question and get some much needed reassurance.
Good luck:)
