Seeing some of the gifts ideas in the post below, made me realize that some of you guys spend a lot on gifts for each other! What's your typical spending on gifts for your H?

This year we budgeted $50 each, plus stocking stuffers. (little stocking stuffers like candy and such).
We said $100 for Ellie but I think we've blown that. It's all about her.
Billy always goes above and beyond for me so I try to get him at least one big big gift and then a bunt of little things.
This yr I have probably spent about 100-150 so far and I still want to get him a few little things and then everything for his stocking.
We set a limit for Teaghan, we said three toys, some books and a dvd of elmo but we blew that out of the water.
We never really set a number but I normally spend about $150-$200 on him for Christmas and $100 for birthdays/anniversary. I know he normally spends more on me for anniversary and Christmas because I don't buy as many large items throughout the year as he does for himself.
We also have a pretty cushy expendable income, so we tend to buy the things we want freely throughout the year.

Usually it's around $200, but he just bought a new computer on Monday so it might be more like $100.
I seem to have no budget for Adrian. :-P
so, over 55% of Niners spend more than $150 on their spouse for Christmas. Wow. What do you guys DO for a living?! Do you spend this much as all holidays, like birthdays, V-day, and anniversaries?
Not only can I not wrap my head around that amount of money on gifts, but how in the world do you come up with that much stuff to give them? Maybe we just get too much stuff throughout the year as we need it (like clothes, etc), but I would have no idea how to spend that much money on H that many times a year...
No. Maybe a card and a dinner out, a small token, but that's it for every other time of the year. $50 MAX, if that, for everything else.

Yep, this is us too. I'm planning a bigger bday gift for him because it will happen right after I hopefully get my second bonus, so instead of a personal reward I'm going to buy him a smartphone or an iPad with 3G.

This.
I also think we don't spend much on each other for Christmas because both our birthdays are within 2 months of Christmas. We spend more on birthdays and anniversaries because they are more personal to us.

I actually didn't vote because I don't know what to pick! The past couple of years we've been pretty broke, but this year DH worked a special job where he got payed more than double his normal wage for about 5 months!
So normally we get each other something under $50...But this year, it'll be between $50 and $100
For us like I said above, birthdays and anniversaries we go to about $100 or so although Andy has been buying me jewelry lately that is well above that, I'm sure. For Valentine's we just do a card and a nice ($100-$125) dinner.
For Andy, its really easy for me to spend that amount of money on him because he has expensive hobbies. The clothes he uses for hunting are expensive, guns are expensive, ammo is expensive, mounting is expensive, its all very pricey.
This is going to sound really terrible, but most of the stuff we buy for each other or that we buy for ourselves throughout the year we don't need. Its things we want. We make good money and we're able to do that. If we had a financial situation where we only bought things that we NEEDED surely, it would be less. Honestly, we have more than we need but we're not in a position where it really matters.
Some of the things that I asked for this year include: a $40 robe from Gap, a Kindle Fire, some lotions and bubble bath from VS which are about $20 each, a spa gift card, a kitchen torch and ramekins, some magazine subscriptions, a Duke sweatshirt, pashminas in various colors, tall socks for with boots, and a Vera Bradley scarf. All in all if he got everything on that list it would be ~$600.
I mean honestly, if you thought about all the possible kitchen and cooking items that you wished you could have if you had the budget....I bet you could have Scott spend that much on you.
Every Christmas we say "let's go small on each other since our birthdays are in January. We'll do something big then," But then he goes over the budget and that makes me go over the budget. I'd say we spend about the same on birthdays and Christmas.
Since we started living together, Valentines Day has been just a night at home where we cook dinner together. Something we NEVER do. We don't share the kitchen for very well.
We try to do a trip for our anniversary - but this year it just wasn't in the budget so we went out for a nice dinner ($100) instead.
Since both of our birthdays are in September and are very close to our anniversary, we often lump the anniversary and birthday gifts. But we do spend about the same, ~$200. We don't celebrate V-day except for dinner and we don't necessarily do it the night of V-day. We make a decent amount of money, we're both engineers.
