If it is just you: how much do you spend on food (grocery store) per month ?

Re: households of 1

  • Way too much! I usually spend around $50-70 a week, plus I dine out a lot too.
  • When I lived alone, I spent about $50 a week. That included lunches out a few days a week and all other food to cook at home.
  • I try to keep it within $200/month, but I sometimes go over.  I also dine out a lot.

  • Depends on how often I'm in town. I travel a lot, but when I'm home, it seems like $80 is the magic number. Whenever I grocery shop (which is like 2x a month, sometimes 3), I usually hit near the $80 mark. So I'd say between $160 - $240 a month.
  • I spend approximately $100/week, but most of the food I buy is organic produce and I am always exercising, so I tend to eat a lot more than the average person.

This.  It's kind of a pattern of $50 then $70 then $50 then $70 because I usually stock my meat selections every other week so that jacks my bill, while the other weeks are veggies, snacks whatever.

Glad I'm not the only one who spends that much!! But yes, almost everything I buy is organic or from the fancy "health food" section of the store so it tends to be a bit more.

I spend about this much too.
