Ortho recs and wisdom teeth removal experiences?
Hi Pretties!
I think I'm going to have to have my wisdom teeth removed soon (joy), and don't have an orthodontist in Omaha... any recs?
Also, any idea on how much it wil cost me? I don't think my dental insurance covers it, and I'm not sure about my Blue Cross Blood Shield PPO either.
Thanks in advance,
Sara

You need an Orthodontist too or want an oral sugeon? I went to the place on like 92 and Center. I can't remember who I went to - I think he may have retired. But the staff were really nice. Mine were all impacted so I was knocked out and it didn't take long. The dr even called the next day to check up on me.
If you need an Orthodontist I went to Timothy Sheehan when I was on high school. Kind of in Dundee area on Dodge. He was super nice and cute
Ah, I thought orthodontists performed oral surgeries ~ see how little I know. Thanks for clarifying.
Why the he11 I didn't have them out when I was a kid, living under my parents' roof, is beyond me... other than the fact that I am the ultimate procrastinator.

I don't remember where I went, but I remember the building. But, if you have impacted teeth at all, it can be filed under medical because then it's considered "surgery" and medical pays more than dental on most insurance plans! I was super out of it - I vaguely remember asking when they would start and they said "We're done, see?" And showed me the xray -- I asked to see the teeth and they said they had already thrown them away.
And then I slept the rest of the day! :-)

I got a dry socket and even followed all the rules. It hurt like no other and is definetly something to avoid! The dry socket itself was painful but I could handle it, how they fixed it is another thing.
I think this is called Omaha Oral and Maxifacial Surgery, or something like that? Where the hottie Dr W works that everyone talks about.
My oldest SS had his wisdom teeth pulled there by another Dr and they did a good job...but that Dr that did it started his own practice out at Village pointe and my second SS had his done there last month by the same doctor...they charged us almost $1000 more then when he was at the other office...so I would probably compare prices. I know our BCBS medical insurance didn't cover anything.
This is who I saw when I had to get a couple teeth surgically removed before I had braces. Apparently my mouth was too small, who knew!
I have also been to Dr. Little on Dodge....DID NOT LIKE HIM.
Oh Dr. Dreamy.... I mean Wees
McDermott actually did my surgery and I had a follow-up appt with Wees since McD was on vacation. I have BCBS PPO and I don't think I even had to pay anything out of pocket when I had mine done but I suppose that all depends at where you are as far as deductible goes. If you're needing surgery in the early part of next year, you may have to pay more OOP than you would have if you had it yet this year. Mine were removed almost 4 years ago, but I think I had to have a referral from my dentist to be seen? I can't remember for sure.
Married the love of my life 6/3/06
Became a family of three 8/25/09
I went to the same place and had the same experience. I had all 4 done at the same time, they knocked me out and away I went. (D drove me home.)

I went here last year when I had mine removed. I am PETRIFIED of the dentist, so I thought I was going to die, but it was actually less painful than I could have ever imagined. Dr. Glow made sure I understood everything that was going to happen, even though I was going to be completely knocked out. Just talking to him calmed my nervous. Can't say enough great things about him or the staff.
Afterwards, make sure to take your meds, don't drink out of a straw, and be prepared when you look in your mouth the first time. Thankfully DH was right next to me - because I almost passed out when I saw the "holes." Grosssssssssss. I had my surgery first thing in the morning, and had only minor pain that evening - was fine the next day. I was still grossed out, though - so I didn't eat solids for quite a few days.
Also, don't remember exactly, but pretty sure I had to pay less than $500 with BCBS.
