What are you getting DH/SO for xmas?
What's on their list? Do you usually buy one big present, a bunch of small presents, one big present and small presents or what?
Re: What are you getting DH/SO for xmas?
Instead of giving each other gifts, we usually go out for an expensive dinner and get a room in a swanky hotel. When we do exchange gifts, they're usually small and inexpensive- the last time we did this, I got him Transformers Monopoly and he got me a cutting board made of recycled flask husk and a subscription to Ms. magazine.
ETA: that should say flax husk, not flask. Although a flask sounds good right about now.
I got him a personalized hoodie (from Zazzle). It says "BearMonk Industries" on the upper lefthand part of the chest and then under that it says "est 2005" (the year we got married). I LOVE it! The quality is great, but I ordered the wrong size. I was shocked when they told me I could return it (I figured I'd just have to re-buy it)... and then when I got it and submitted the return request, they told me just to keep it and they'd send the one in the right size. So I'm SUPER impressed with Zazzle's customer service.
I also got him an Erector set because he told me that he never got to have one as a kid and always wanted one. I got him Adele 19 (because he's OBSESSED with 21), Tropic Thunder on DVD, a book Richard Scarry book that he told me he and his mom wore out three of when he was little, this book he wanted about a guy who built a toaster (actually mined the raw materials, etc), and some of his favorite shaving cream.
Currently Reading: Don Quixote by Miguel De Cervantes
We usually just do a stocking, so I got him some drum sticks, a crapton of snickers, and some mini bottles of liquor. I might get him a food dehydrator because he's always waxing lyrical about how awesooome venison jerky is. Which won't fit in a stocking, but tough cookies.
[eta] I also plan on getting him a gift cert to a local pizzeria he loves, if they have gift certs. The owner knows H by phone number though so I'm sure we can work something out, heh.
All very cool ideas. That hoodie company sounds pretty awesome imoan. FI said he'd like a telescope, but I'm not sure what constitutes decent quality at a not so high price. Most that I've seen are $200-300+ and that's beyond our spending limit. Would something like this be too cheaply made do you think?

CUTE imoan! DH used to make a lot of t-shirts through Zazzle. They are a pretty good company- super vigilant about copyright issues, which drives DH nuts, of course.
This is our first Christmas together, woo hoo! I'm getting him a few small-ish things. I saw a shirt I thought would look good on him, and I am having a really cute picture I took of him and the little dude framed for his office, and I am trying to track down a pair of his favorite jeans.
Oh, and I want to find him a yellow stegosaurus eraser as kind of a funny gift because he told me about losing his favorite yellow stegosaurus eraser as a child, but so far, no luck.

He gave me a list of like 12 video games, I want off the list a bit.
I bought him an Ipod Nano as his big gift
and then some Karate gear and a couple blu-rays as his smaller gifts.
I'm going to get him a sausage stuffing horn and maybe a new camera. The latter is really for both of us, though, since we don't have a decent camera to our names and we take a lot of pictures.
We usually do one medium-ish gift each, maybe $50-$100.
Nothing big, neither of us really want anything and when we want things, we tend to buy them anyway (we bought two new recliners on Saturday, so perhaps those are our "gifts" to each other, ha).
H said he was going to buy some sort of trinket though to have something to give on Christmas, so I will think of something as well. Not easy to do as, like I said, generally if we really want something we will have already bought it, and neither of us likes "stuff" that is just going to sit around.
We don't buy each other Christmas gifts. Sometimes we buy something we both want that's mildly expensive, but we don't even really do that anymore. We're grinches.
Although I do sometimes pick up something small for him. I don't think there is anything in particular that he wants, though.
Sweet! Now I want to know why the heck that didn't show up when I Googled.
I tend towards several smaller things, he usually buys me one larger thing.
I'm getting him a warm hat that he saw and liked, several things from ThinkGeek, and a couple other little things (candy, nice underwear). I had a couple other ideas, but I have to stop myself from getting every little thing I see that he might like... but his birthday's in January, so I guess I can save some things to give then if I feel like it's too many items.
I think he's getting me a Kindle. He's not terribly good at being secretive.
DH is getting a leather recliner.
Some years we do very small gifts, like $20 each if we're saving for something. Some years it's a big one. This year so happens to be a big one, though I don't really want anything. We weren't going to do much but I got one HELL of a deal so.. And chances are he'll buy something big even if we say no gifts. He always does.
We're doing a couple small gifts
I got H the Boogie Board LCD writing tablet from Brookstone, a few shirts, an ornament (it's the leg lamp from A Christmas Story) and the thing he'll probably love more than life itself: a replacement copy of his Beastie Boys License To Ill album...oh yeah, it's a casette. His truck only accepts casettes and I know all he wants to do is rock out to it on his way home from work
I actually feel like I did pretty good for H this year.
This is BIG TIME AWESOME.
I feel his pain as my car only has a casette player and I have no more of those.
DH bought me the Kindle Touch for my birthday and I just got it on Monday--it is awesome!
