I know it is a Tuesday post but I post it on Monday nights b.c. I don't get to this until later in the evening. I finished Sweet Valley Confidential and really liked it. Jessica is still not a nice person but that is how her character is supposed to be. Did anyone else read this?
I started Santa Cruise by Carol Higgins Clark and her mother Mary Higgins Clark. It is great. I love reading Christmas books around the holidays. This is about Christmas and a cruise ship plus a mystery so it makes for a great read!!! The mother and daughter team have written 4-5 Christmas books together and I have only read one...which is going to be a movie on TNT near Christmas (Deck the Halls.) It was great too!!
Re: Cyber Monday book post
I am rereading Tangerine by Edward Bloor. It's a young adult book that came out around 1997. I read it back when I was in 5th or 6th grade, but I'm getting ready to teach it to my middle schoolers, so I needed to read it again. I remembered loving it, but I didn't really remember specifics.
I'm about 2/3 through it, but I already started some introductory activities with my kids. We did an anticipation guide and filled out a fill-in-the-blank summary using context clues. Now they are working on a web quest to find out some background information. They're hooked and so ready to start the book! They keep asking when they will get their copy. Unfortunately, the books are in terrible, terrible condition. Our librarian did what damage control he could, but this will definitely be the last time we can use these. We can order a new set for next year, but I might look into purchasing a newer novel. We'll see
This sounds great! I love hearing that teachers are doing activities to "teach" reading and get the kids excited about reading!
