Bedroom Makeover Advice

So with our new bedding I have decided to paint and make a fabric headboard (while we save and search for the perfect headboard!). I need some advice on a fabric for the headboard and possible curtains too.

here is the bedding:

Our furniture is black - gifted from an Aunt and Uncle when they moved so we cannot get a matching bed. The style of the furniture is fairly simple.

We have medium wood trim and are planning on painting the walls a tan color.

This place has fabric online but if you have any suggestions ideas I would so appreciate it! http://www.hawthornethreads.com/

Re: Bedroom Makeover Advice

  • I am confused at what your other furniture looks like. I think a grey or white material would look nice.

  • Are you dead set on a fabric headboard?

I think an alternate headboard, like using an old door, would look awesome with that furniture and the bedding choices.

Alternatively, I would do something very simple, like white, grey, tan, or black.

I am not set. I love alternate headboards but always thought our house was did not have the right look. I thought of fabric because it is a DIY thing I know how to do! I should check Goowill to see if they have anything.

  • What if I used a piece of Lattice and cover it in crown molding on the top/sides? Paint it black? I don't know if it would have splinters or what not but I will have to check out Lowes tomorrow.

  • Lowes and HD should both have pressure treated and nicer latice that won't have splinters.

  • Oooh good to know - that was the one thing I thought might make it not work!

This sounds like a great idea :)
