Lazy Tuesday randoms

Yay, my first randoms post or did I steal it from someone?  DH took DS to school today so I could sleep in and have a day all to myself.  This will probably never happen again for at least 5 more years so I am enjoying it!  How are you girls this morning?

Re: Lazy Tuesday randoms

  • Good morning!

I was able to pack a lunch and make it to work on-time (clocking in at 8:00 is on time, right?) so it's a good day so far.  :)

Enjoy your free day!  I would love one of those!  Hehe.

  • Good morning!

I don't have anything exciting to report.

  • On Sunday night, I had a dream that my mother's friend was trying to commit suicide.  I basically followed her around the entire dream to make sure she didn't do it/try to talk her out of it.  She never went through with it in the dream.

Last night, I had a dream that there was a huge group of people from Michigan down in Florida.  I think we were on a cruise ship.  I was a nanny or some other sort of hired help (I think.)  In the huge group of people was a girl I went to elemetary school and still occasionally see at church events.  In the dream, she committed suicide (I didn't witness it though.)

It's so weird that I keep dreaming about suicide.  I have no idea what this is about.  It's kinda freaking me out though.

Strange.  Do you know anyone who has committed suicide lately?  Do you know anyone who has expressed suicidal thoughts?  There has been a bit of a surge of local articles on the subject recently because there were a couple of higher profile suicides.  Have you been reading these?

  • I am not feeling well. I watched a friend's daughter 2 weeks ago and I caught her cold - it has gotten worse and now Mike has it. Now today I am having nausea and everything else. I hope that I dont have to leave work and to the doctors.

I had the same kind of dreams for a while. Don't be too freaked out. Suicide dreams usually mean you have given up on something (a relationship, a project, ect).

  • Des and Mol, do you have an anniversary of a loss coming up?  That's got to be an awful thing to dream about.

Gollie, I hope you have a great day!

  • Slow day here.  I started 2 new threads.  You should too.  I'm avoiding school work, please enable me.

  • I wish I would have brought 2 brownies and 1 orange instead of 1 brownie and 2 oranges.

    Wink

  • I kind of just want to crawl someplace warm and not come back out. Burrrr!!!

I'm on the lookout for a recipe for tonights dinner. I have Chicken Quarters to make but no recipe

  • We are preparing for a snow day tomorrow....that means it probably won't happen. LOL!

  • Mike shared with me yesterday that he is going on a business trip for a week in December.

    To Malaysia.

And he is staying at really nice resort and spa because that is what is closest to his company offices. I want to go.

    Go!  That sounds wonderful.

  • Hoek, is it possible for you to go?

I'm only seeing 1-2" of snow in the forecast, but my FB feed is full of snow anticipation.  What's going on?

The southern counties are looking at getting 4-6" and our area may get an inch or two nothing major really.

The radio said 4-8" today, but I thought it was further south of you.

  • Jim just called.  His initial meeting/interview/test lecturing  was today at the school.  He wasn't sure how he scored, but he was pretty hyper.  Because that department head wants him to pick up a class in January, I'd imagine he'll hear back soon.

Christmas gift suggestions for a new adjunct prof (just in case)?

Oh it is a pipe dream.

The tickets are beyond ridiculously expensive for us. And he isn't staying over a full weekend so we likely wouldn't have a lot of time with him.  It wouldn't be the best use of our money or frequent flier miles. I just still can't shake the idea of drinks poolside from my mind.

Well, now I can tell you that malaria is running rampant there - but only in women (so Mike is safe).  Also, the pools are filled with crocodiles, and the drinks are gross.

    Hoek, stop reading here.

Before anyone spreads rumors about malaria: no.  Not true. ;)  Unless you're Hoek.

  • Malaysia!  We know a couple from Malaysia and have heard lots of stories.  I want to visit.

GRSP, glad to hear things are going well for Jim at school.  That's so cool. (ETA: Okay, I misread.  Today's call was about the interview.  Fingers crossed, in that case.)

  • I knocked out a couple of small gifts for B on my lunch hour.  Woot.
  • I thought I had bought a small package of Twizzlers on lunch for a special snack. Imagine my disappointment when I just went to grab one and realized it was a pull 'n peel. Not what I wanted. Boo!

Yes, they are calling for 4 inches (or more) of snow in the area where I work. If the two school districts in our area close tomorrow, we'll also be closed.

  • Today is my 7 year anniversary with this company.

Hmmm...I wonder where I will be in 7 years from now.

    Care to share?  :)

I feel awful about H's gifts.  But it's partially because his list is boring.

    - new jeans...boring
    - new bowling shoes...boring
    - new socks and boxers...boring
    - Romance of the Three Kingdoms for PS3...sounds cool...oh wait, it doesnt exist.  Boo.

I'm a tad jealous.  My company never ever closes.

    1) Photo desk calendar, using some of our Hawaii pictures.

    2) Socks.  Ha!  There was a certain kind of socks he wanted -- wool and recycled cotten.

I'm not entirely sure what else I'm going to get him yet.

I know. My company never closes either.  What sucks is that a lot of people have the option to work from home in instances of bad weather, but I am not one of those people so even if there is a blizzard, I have to come into work or call in (which I had to do last year because my car got stuck).

Glad that I read this before buying a ticket. Thank goodness we are not going! ;)

Oh! Very exciting! I am no help with gift ideas because all I can think of is a pipe that blows bubbles. And then I giggle.
