SO: what should I get a new flame for Christmas?

I'm a big gift giver.  Love doing it but I'm in a bit of a pickle on this one.  I want to get the new guy I'm dating something but the relationship is so new that I don't know what to get.

I met him about 2 months ago.  We aren't "official" or anything.  We probably see each other once a week but talk almost every day.

Any suggestions for a gift?

Re: SO: what should I get a new flame for Christmas?

  • Does he like anything?
  • Maybe something wearable: a shirt, a sweater or his favorite cologne (if he is a cologne wearer)

  • How about something consumable, like a fancier liquor than he usually drinks, or Omaha steaks or something? That way he doesn't need to feel compulsed to wear it or keep it out on the end table when you come over to visit.
  • Do a coffee mug that he'll like full of his favorite candy.  Or you could get him one of those hot cocoa sets they sell at walmart.

  • Bottle of wine or liquor? I think those are nice gifts if you know what he prefers.
  • I think cologne is a nice gift ... does he have an iphone, you could get him an itunes card for music/apps ... make a booklet of "gift certificates" for a night out to dinner your treat, things like that ... something for his car/garage/tool ... if he reads maybe a new book ...

    Hope this helps

    Me, hopefully ;)

I've been trying to think of something thoughtful but small.  I don't want it to feel too over-the-top but at the same time I'd like to give him something.

Ok, will continue considering options...thanks for the suggestions...

I think this is a good idea. Does he like scotch? A decent bottle of scotch and a set of scotch rocks would be a great gift-- or either one of those by itslef really.

How much do you want to spend?

  • I agree.  something consumable is the best way to a new mans heart without showing too much commitment, even if the relationship lasts forever.  does he have a favorite liqueor he is ordering when you guys go out?  if so, i would purchase that for him.
