Re: This woman is vile.
My uncle was very low functioning down's/autistic, and would get very grumpy when he couldn't do what he wanted, but my grandmother never tolerated poor behavior, from the very beginning of his life from what I'm told. I don't know the situation besides what this woman is saying, but if he's truly a danger, she should stay home. Otherwise, he should be told that whatever inappropriate thing he's doing is not okay and disciplined at whatever mental level he's at by whoever is in charge of him (or whoever's house it is).
That OP made me sad.
Did you read the whole thread?
She comes back to say that her whole family are uncomfortable around special needs children and that if her hypothetical future fetus showed any kind of possible abnormality, she would abort immediately - also - if she gave birth to a child who turned out to have any kind of abnormality, she would adopt out immediately.
What a piece of work.
Oh gosh no. I only read the OP. Yeah, she sounds awful with that update.
Totally off topic, and I didn't even read the article. But Mel I didn't see the link at first, and hadn't noticed you had changed your sig pic. I thought you were saying the woman who dressed her dogs and kid up for a pic was vile, and I was thinking man I must be vile too because I think it's adorable.
So yeah, your son and dogs are adorable!
Disgusting. My uncle has Down Syndrome with the mental capacity of a 2 or 3 year old. He doesn't know his own strength but he doesn't intentionally hurt people. He just needs to be reminded that he needs to be gentle. It also helps that he feels safe and comfortable in the environment. I'm guessing this shrew and her shitastic family don't do anything to make this man feel comfortable.
This really upsets me...I'm actually getting teary eyed thinking about it.
Truly truly awful. I used to care for a little girl with special needs. She does not speak much and doesn't know her own strength. Its just so so sad, that OP cannot fathom loving a person with special needs. M is such a sweet girl, I can't imagine not having her in my life.
Slightly off topic, I have a friend who has a friend who adopted a little girl who was born prematurely. At the time there were no signs of developmental issues or any other problems. When problems appeared the adoption agency offered to take the baby back. The adopted mother was appalled. She told them, I love her, if I had given birth to her myself I wouldn't have the option to "give her back", how could you even fathom that I would want to. She is an amazing person and her daughter is now 12 and a pretty awesome little girl. I can't imagine what would have happened to her in the OP of that posts' family.
ETA: edited because I can't finish my thoughts.
That posts makes me angry in so many ways.
When I was pg with B-boy, they saw a soft spot on his heart. They said there was a chance he could have DS. Yes, we were worried and scared, not for us but for what the future would hold for him. There was no doubt he would have a future we just were afraid of how people like this woman would see him. He does not have DS. It's a good thing we weren't like this woman, we could have missed out on an amazing kid.
When J was shot 3 years ago, I wasn't sure what things would be like when he returned home. I had vowed to stick by him through thick and thin. For weeks, I had to bathe him, help him in the bathroom, dress him, clean and dress his wounds. It wasn't anything either of us had ever planned on, but I love him and we made it through. How would this woman react to that?
One of our friends suffered severe injuries when an IED blast hit him and through him into a ditch filled with water. Between injuries from the blast, a TBI and drowning he has many physical and emotional issues. For two years, he has had only half a skull. He had to learn to talk, eat, walk and do pretty much everything again. He spent the first 6 months in a vegitative state. Would she have left her 25 yr old son because this wasn't her idea of a perfect kid? What's amazing is not only has his entire family stood by him, so has the girl he had only started dating 5 months before he left on that deployment. They had known each other 7 months before he was hurt. She says he is still the man of her dreams, the dreams just have a new direction now. I can't imagine the OP would have stayed around for long after that. People like that and their ignorance are what make this world a sad place.
