My lunch hour heart attack

I was so excited I got my lunch and ate it within 15 minutes today. I had 45 minutes to do some Christmas shopping before I had to go back to work.

I ran home to take care of Reg and I washed my hands after I took him outside and realized my wedding rings were gone. My $14 Target ring was still on my hand but my rings were gone.

I instantly panicked. I searched all over the house-every room I went into. At this point, I'm freaking out and trying to remember when I last remembered seeing them. But the rings are such a huge part of me now that I usually don't "feel" them. I looked all over the house and looked in my car. I looked on the porch and in the yard.

By this point I'm hysterical. I decided I would just go back to work early and look there. I had been putting up Christmas decorations this morning. I thought maybe they fell off while I was doing that.

Jon called right then and I answered the phone bawling. He goes,"Just retrace your steps. It will be okay...we'll go buy you new rings this weekend." I told him I didn't want new rings..I wanted my rings. They have so much meaning to me. He goes,"I know, babe, but I'm going to buy you a new set this weekend if they turn up."

I got my purse and my coat and opened the door to go to work. I looked down-my rings were right on the door mat...sitting up right like they would in a jewelry box.

I'm telling you there WERE NOT THERE when I looked. I picked up the door mat to ensure that they hadn't some how fallen under it. I'm not sure how they got there but wow...I'm glad they did!

And I think they're even more beautiful now! Wink

  • That's pretty crazy. Any ideas about how they got there? I'm glad they showed up, but I'd be kinda weirded out.

I got a text message as I was unlocking my door. I think it fell out as I pulled my phone out of my pocket, but I'm not sure. That's never happened to me before and I always have my phone in my pocket at lunch. Better believe I checked my hand 28347305739045 times yesterday! I work in a huge building complete with 4 ware houses. If I would have lost it at work...I would have been so screwed.

And yes, Crystal, we definitely are. Big Smile

  • So glad you found them! I totally would have been freaking out too. That's so weird where and how they turned up, but so happy they did!

  • So glad you found them! I totally agree with you that my rings are worth way more in sentimental value than monetary value, and I would be devastated if I ever had to replace them.

  • That's so strange! I'm glad you found them. Did you have them in your pocket? Or do they just fall off your finger lol ? If that's the case you might want to get them resixzed :)
