French Cafe?

We have a gift certificate for the French Cafe.  Neither of us have ever been there before.  Is it good?  Any recommendations?  Has anyone ever had the chateuabriand?

Thanks!

Re: French Cafe?

  • My H and I went there for his bday 2 months ago. Sooooooooooooo good. Our food took a long time, but the service was good. Both our dishes were awesome--H got duck cassoulet (sp?) and I had boeuf bourguignon. We got the Caesar salad before, highly recommend that as they make the dressing right in front of you. We got dessert too, but I can't remember that part after 2+ glasses of wine! Go, you won't regret it!

  • Very good. We have been there a few times (my bridal luncheon was there as well). We haven't been in quite sometime I almost always get the Beouf Bourguignon. There is (or was) a raspberry chocolate mousse for dessert that is awesome as well. Enjoy!

  • Enjoy!  Dh took me there the evening we got engaged.
  • We have been quite a few times....it's pretty good. My suggestion is that I would wait until January to go-the current popularity of their Living Social deal seems to have made service slower, food has been regularly sold out, and we were just not impressed with the last visit we had 3 weeks ago. Ourlast visit before that was just before the Living Social thing went out, and it was night and day.

January and February are pretty quiet for almost all places, we find that we get better service and a more positive dining experience then.

Some of our favorite dishes there have been: escargot (if you like the French style-served in shell, not covered in cheese), their boneless Iowa Ribeye, and DH loves their steak and frites.
