Best vacuum to clean pet hair?

Any recommendations?  I seem to be going through a vacuum a year, so I'm willing to spend a little more for a more durable vacuum.

 Is the dyson pet worth the money, or is there anything else out there that works well?

    I have a regular Dyson and it's fabulous. Prior to getting it I was going through at least a vacuum a year too. I'm loving the Dyson and see it lasting a really long time. I heard the only difference between the pet model and others is the attachments. I didn't think I'd use them so I opted for a different model since it's cheaper. I got mine at BB&B with a 20% off coupon.

    I have had my Dyson Pet since 2006 and it is still running strong!  I have 3 cats and it is amazing how much hair they can produce in one day.  Half the fun with the Dyson is seeing how much it pullls up.

    I have a Dyson also. Love it! With 2 pugs it is amazing the amount of hair it pulls up!

    Dyson all the way. Although I have no actual proof, I feel like the cost evens out. The cheaper vacuums don't suck as well and don't last nearly as long.
    Me: Endo, PCOS & septated uterus (removed) DH: perfect 4/11 lap to remove endo 6/11 start ttc 4/12 - 10/12 6 cycles of clomid no O 11/12 hysteroscopy to repair uterus 1/13- 2/13 2 cycles of femera no O 3/13 HSG- partial left tube blockage but uterus "repaired" 4/13 first month of injectibles Follistim - cancelled due to overstim 5/13 natural cycle due to cysts

    I recommend a Miele or a Simplicity.  A Dyson could not entirely remove my dog's hair from my carpet.

    With Black Friday coming up, there should be some good deals on Dysons--I got mine that way and saved a lot of money on it.  You can also go to Amazon and get a refurbished one.  I know someone who did that and has been pleased, and he is not one to be easily pleased.

    i don't have any experience with the dyson, but my m-i-l got me the bissell pet hair eraser a year ago and i love it!  we have 3 dogs and it works like a charm!
