Has anyone ever taken a hot air balloon ride?

One of the groupon deals of the day is for a hot air balloon ride. It sounds like a lot of fun, and it is a decent price. Has anyone ever done this before? Is it as fun as it sounds? Is it worth the money?

Yikes! No. But I'm a big chicken about heights. I see hot air balloons all the time in Howell, even saw one make an emergency landing in the Meijer parking lot, but never gotten in one. My MIL went on one and loved it though. I say, if you think it sounds like fun, go for it!

Oh no I'm way too chicken for that! My cousin posted a video from his hot air balloon ride and even watching that freaked me out! He loved it though and said he'd do it again for sure!!!

I'm just lurking here, (I hope to be more involved though. Hi everyone!) but I had to respond. My dad and I just took a balloon ride in October in Oxford. It was alot of fun! I was scared out of my mind, I'm not afraid of heights, but I've only been on one airplane trip so i've hardly done anything like it. My dad isn't afraid of heights, but doesn't like them (he has a hard time looking over the edge but will force himself to do it) And we both decided there is absolutly no fear factor being up in the balloon. We tried to figure out how we could explain it to someone, namely my mom, to get them to try it and we just couldn't do it. While you're up in the air, even if you look straight down, there's no way to measure how high you are. Since there's no visible connection to the ground, you just can't tell you're that high (we went up to something like 1500 ft) It's very hard to explain, but I'd say go for it. For us, it was worth the money!

I've never been, but we actually know people who own a hot air balloon business. I wonder if it's theirs!

I haven't, but have always wanted to! My brother took his wife for her birthday and they both said it's awesome, they loved it! I say go for it! We used to watch them every Friday and Saturday night, sometimes there would be like 10-15 at a time by our house.

Yes, it is! I got the Groupon too and it is, in fact, a great price. I did it about 4 years ago and I'm going to use the Groupon to do it again

My husband and I did this for our 1st anniversary this year. It was amazing! Through the same company as the Groupon offer. We got our certificates from a charity auction.

I'm afraid of heights (falling actually) and I wasn't scared at all. You feel pretty secure and it is so worth while!!
