Has anyone ever done a potted Christmas tree that yo replant outside after the holidays? It always seemed so silly to me to kill a live tree just for decoration for a few weeks (but not so silly that I didn't still do it).
We could really use some trees in our yard too. I've heard this can be done, just wondering if anyone has had any luck with the trees actually thriving when replanted.
Re: Potted Christmas Tree?
I have no idea but I couldn't pass up the chance to say that has to be one of the best baby faces I've seen in a long time. I'm loving your little James in that shot.
Mira, I would post this on Gardening and Landscaping. There are a few women there who I think would be able to give you pointers.
If we could have a real tree (allergies here), this is the route that I'd be investigating, too.
Nice to see your words and James' sweet face here.
Thank you for voicing something that has always been in the back of my mind but I never did anything about. Tree is already bought this year so will remember to look into it next year.
Yes, and I love that you did the Xmas lights picture! Adorable!!

This is the greenhouse that my mom and sister use. They have a lot of locations in Metro Detroit, and they have a phone #. I'd bet if you talked to a tree expert there, they could give you some good advice.
I have no idea how it works, but you could try Bordines Nursey for one. Although I think they are a bit pricey.
Thanks ladies.
The plan is to go visit some local nurseries and a local Tree farm this weekend and find out what they think. It looks like the Christmas tree farm offers "potted" trees to replant. So that is good, I just worry about the odds that it doesn't make it.
The tree farm we went to this past weekend had potted plants, and they were only about 25% more expensive than cut trees.
