i am about to lose my *** mind

none of this would be quite so dramatic if chris wasn't in naples this week and *** miami next week.

Wyatt has a hot spot above his tail that he will.not.stop.licking/chewing.

i bought a cone sunday which is great and all, but i'm pretty sure he's somehow still getting to it while i'm at work.

sunday chris put neosporin on the spot. monday chris left. monday morning i put neosporin on it and wyatt was fine.

now, wyatt thinks i'm going to kill him and won't come near me if i have anything in my hand.  honestly. i'm getting so frustrated I could cry. it nothing to even cry over but i just want to put this *** hot spot *** on his tail so he'll leav it the alone. on top of that diva is barking her damn head off. i'm losing my *** mind..and it's only tuesday.

total white girl problems but seriously. i'm over it.

  • Call your Vet and ask them for Otomax. My dog got into something one time and would not leave it alone, we took him to the vet and they gave us Otomax. It worked wonders! He stopped messing with it and it was cleared up in a day. You could put some on your finger and then just rub it on him quickly.
  • i'm trying to avoid the vet, and i really don't want to take him by myself. I'm trying to wait until chris get home before I take him. .. ughhhhhhh

Our "family" dog got a hot spot and would chew herself raw. They said that she was allergic to fleas but I don't think that was true. I broke out in hives one summer while pet sitting her from the stress of her chewing and bleeding everywhere. She chewed herself until the day that she was put to sleep. I completely understand your frustration. I think it would be best if you took him to the vet immediately though.

This is only the 2nd time this has happened. It happened around the same time last year. I don't know if the fleas are just worse right now or what - Chris treated the yard last weekend & he's going to treat it again when we get back. .. we also have Wyatt on Advantix, which i think is not worth the container it comes in. .. i think we will switch him back to comfortis.

  • Aww poor baby!  When we were out of town earlier this month we came home to Shadow having chewed a baseball sized hole into his side that was raw and ***.  We took him to the vet and they gave us a shampoo to bathe him in, antibiotics for the infection, and a spray.  Poor baby would sulk and cower when we would go to use the spray on him.

As for the flea stuff.  We've never had good luck with Advantix.  Both our babies are on Comfortis and that works well.  Before we switched Princess always had flea issues and now she hasn't for a long time.

I can give you the name/number to my vet. If you call and tell them what is going on, they might just let you come get some cream for him. Our vet is on the street behind Old Navy.  (in Spring Hill)  My H is like you, our dog is 7 and he has never taken him to the Vet without me.LOL He's scared of the Maltese in a vets office! ;)

We go to the vet on county line. Chris comes home tomorrow. We'll make a decision then. I gave him benedryl last night & this morning. It seems to be helping & the spot is starting to scab over.  I will ask our vet about the otomax though

LOL. And LOL@ white girl problems.

  • Also, in all fairness to Sting, dealing with a dog and it's spazzy issues is not the same as dealing with a baby. It's just not.
  • Oh man.  Crazy dog problems sucks.

I try to drag H to the vet with me. It makes me so upset to see my pup stressed like that and I want H to realize it isn't all sprinkles and rainbows.

Just warming him up for kids, I guess.

It really wouldn't be so bad if Wyatt wasn't so skiddish. He already is scared of everything. Try spraying something on him. Ha Ha Ha .. He runs like his ass is on fire. He's scared of yoga balls, laundry baskets, brooms, everything.. I literally have to sneak up behind him when he's laying down and spray the stuff on his tail. Then he hates me for another few hours and the cycle is just on & on. It's a good thing he's not aggressive, otherwise I'm sure he would have bit my ass by now. ..

& Laura, thanks .. lol. I already know I don't want kids, at least not now or for several years.  - for multiple reasons. my lack of patience is one of them.

  • Yeah. Patience is definitely a learned trait when it comes to kids. FWIW, I think you guys will be great parents one day. Unless the kid doesn't like to fish. Then he's effed.

I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be a choice.
