housewife post - how do I get oil/grease stains out?
Its a mystery to me how dirty DH's clothes get. .. but anyway he has some kind of oil or grease stain on a T-shirt. I suspect its cooking grease or oil. My mom used to use something called Lestoil (?) to get out grease stains, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Do you have a recommendation for removing grease stains??
Re: housewife post - how do I get oil/grease stains out?
Has it already been dried? If so, then its going to be tough. If you haven't washed and dried it yet, then rub some dawn into the stain before washing.
If you have washed and dried it, try this: http://table4five.net/2009/07/11/tightwad-gazette-recipe-for-laundry-stains/
Dawn works really well for this. I had cooking oil spill all over a shirt one time and coated it in dawn/soaked in water overnight, then rinsed and washed in the washing machine and it came out
Simple green gets bike grease out of clothes, so it may work on other kinds of grease.
I wouldn't have any clean clothes in high school if it wasn't for lestoil. I was usually covered in acrylic paint, and lestoil got it out like nothing else.
Dish detergent gets everything out...well everything I've experienced. My neighbor swears by it. Just wet, scrub, soak, wash in washer. I typically even skip the soak part and it works wonderfully.
I just checked, they have lestoil at soap.com.
