What are you getting people for xmas?

Re: What are you getting people for xmas?

  • I don't know what I'm getting people, but I know what I'm getting. I told DH I want a Kindle Fire and he damn well better listen. I am so sick of jewelry. I'm not a jewelry person, but he buys me jewelry every time I don't ask for something specific.
  • Ooh, I've heard the Fire is awesome, LadyE.  I'm a little jealous, though I love my Kindle like whoa.

I decided that if I can't order it online, then people are getting a gift card. I bought my husband a Patriots jersey, the Bruins dvd, and a video game. (That makes him sound like he's 12...)  I'll probably grab him a sweater or something, since he never buys himself clothes unless I force him, and some tchotchkes.  My brother and his fiancee are getting a gift card to the wine shop near their house that they like, and I'll get him a couple of small things, and I'll probably grab her a pair of earrings or something.  My mom asked for the Harry Potter dvd, a Susan Boyle cd (Sleep) and something else small. So I got her a decent sized gift card to the cinema near her house.  We did that for her last year, and she really liked it.

I have NO IDEA what to get my ILs, though. I usually get them a nice bottle of wine as a side gift, but I think my husband is planning to get them a bag o'wine from Bin Ends again this year. They've always spoiled me at Christmas, even when we were just dating, so I feel obligated to get them something.   I'm stumped on my grandfather, too. I mean, the man just turned 90.  He doesn't need anything.  We usually end up getting him a gift card to this breakfast place and and his friend like to go to on Sundays. We'll probably end up doing that again this year.

I have too! And we're Prime members, so it's a no-brainer to get one since they do the movies/tv shows like Netflix now.

I love my Kindle, and I'm going to keep it for reading because I like the e-ink and don't want to read on a backlit screen.

  • As everyone knows by now I picked up a bunch of those monogrammed canvas totes from Lands' End for almost everyone in my family, immediate and extended.

I also bought a monogrammed fleece throw to add to the bag for one of my aunts/uncles.

My mom is getting an iPad from me and my sisters for her birthday/Christmas.

Other than that, I have no idea and, for some reason, I'm kinda anxious about it even though it's not December yet.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

You two don't give them gifts as a couple?  I always sign our gifts as from me and my H, even when he has no idea what is inside the package (or vice versa).

I have been surprisingly on top of my holiday shopping this year, or at least on my holiday gift planning.  I got my mom and dad some books that I saw on amazon awhile ago.  I also got my mom a print from etsy and bought a frame for it.  If we don't run out of time, H and I are going to make a cribbage board for my dad.  If we do run out of time, I'm not sure what we will do instead.  I have a list of ideas for my H's parents, and will run that by him soon to see if he likes them.  I am getting new throw pillows for my grandparents.  I already ordered the pillows I just need to get the shams.  I got my H a CD that we have been enjoying most of the songs from on Pandora.  I think I will also get him my favorite cologne that he ran out of.  He said he doesn't want anything so I think that will be a good practical but nice gift.  I am thinking I will get my aunt an ornament, I have one picked out at Macy's but need to actually go to the store this week to buy it.  I have no idea what to do for my uncle.  I used to buy him books but now he has a kindle and I feel weird buying him an amazon gift card for every occasion.  Still stuck on my siblings.  Coworkers get cookies and maybe a small gift card for coffee.

  • DH really wants a Kindle, but I didn't want to spend that much with the baby on the way. I think his mom is getting it for him and I'm going to get him a cover for it.

MIL really wanted a GPS and we found one on BF for ~45% off, so we snagged that for her.

I really wanted to get my parents Bruins tickets. I can get some through work, but they were still more than we wanted to spend, plus DH and I had planned to go with them so double the $$$. I can find less expensive tickets through Stub Hub and places like that but I worry. The last time I want is to give fake tickets as a gift! So I really don't know what to do.

I want a new camera to take pictures of the baby (I hate the camera DH bought in 2007). I think my parents and grandmother are going in on it together. DH is going to get me a case for it (see the theme lol).

For my grandmother I found this serving dish shaped like holly leaves that I really liked. She always has candy and appetizers out Christmas Eve, plus we always get Chinese food so she could even use it to put out the finger foods such as chicken tenders, chicken wings, and egg rolls. I need to find something to go with it.
