Where to brew beer onsite?
It appears that Shenandoah Brewing is closed, and I had wanted to get a gc for brewing for DH for Christmas. Any ideas of other places in the area where you can go there to brew your own beer (DC or Balt area)?
Re: Where to brew beer onsite?
yeah, shenandoah closing ruined last year's b-day gift for DH!
if she doesn't chime in later, page dmuppet because she & her husband are fellow beer lovers and i know she has been to a place in frederick that i've forgotten the name of.
Flying Barrel. My DH gets his homebrew supplies there. This makes me think I should offer up GC for people to come to our house and brew with DH's equipment!

Yup, we've done Shenandoah twice and Flying Barrel once. We'll do it again, but IMO Flying Barrel is not quite as fun. There were no TVs, no space for more than 2 or 3 people to work on a batch together, no food service. They do have a free-flowing tap of whatever's in their kegerator, which was an unexpected perk. So between no bar tab and no food AND lower brewing prices, overall it's quite a bit cheaper.
Before you take my word for it, though, atleast call Flying Barrel and see if anything's changed since they've moved to their new location - maybe it accomodates more people and/or allows bigger groups to brew.
I'm pretty sure Otto and I would take you up on that!
ditto! i remember that josh enjoyed your home brews at last year's cookie GTG
There will be more this year! He's been picking some out already. He did a lot of very yummy ones this year. We can all hang in the basement like last year and drink with the boys! ;-)

I missed out on the home brew last year since I was nursing Baby Handy, looking forward to having some this year!
We're actually going to be starting some home brewing of our own I think. Our BIL who recently started is getting us a kit for Christmas. I'm excited and a little nervous, how it is going to work with a toddler!
