DH is a surprise ruiner

So Ryan is turning 30 in April.

His aunt and uncle moved to Vegas 2 years ago. We used to hang out with them every Thursday and Saturday when we lived in the same town. We really miss them.

I got this brilliant plan that I was going to surprise him with a trip to Vegas to A.) Visit aunt and uncle, B.) Have some friends (and my sister) meet us there and maybe go for a concert.

I was going to pack a bag for him, say we were going on a small trip to a local resort fo his birthday, then drive to the airport (an hour away) and:Yay! Surprise! I'm  an awesome wife!

DH sprung on me last night that there is a marathon in MARCH right outside of Vegas and he'd really like to run it.

I haven't told him my plan yet. I'm calling his aunt so that she can put the kibosh on his plan (Sorry nephew, March is a REALLY bad month to visit...). I've also been giving reasons on why it would be really inconvenient...

DH:surprise killer.

  • That is funny!  Rusty turns 30 in October and I'm planning a surprise cruise for him.  I know the surprise is going to get ruined!  We are also inviting friends so one of them will screw up!

  • Oh, DH!  Could you maybe make it a combo trip? It would really surprise him to celbrate his birthday a couple weeks early!  I guess going there wouldn't have the elementof surprise, but friends meet you out there would.

  • I planned a surprise trip to San Francisco for Brett's 30th last May, and he tried to make plans with other friends out of town so I had to spill the beans. It was kind of a bummer but I did wait until the week before to tell him where we were actually going so that was fun. Those boys ruin all the fun, don't they?!

  • Boo on him!

I want to plan a surprise graduation party for M for next August when he finishes his Masters, but I am terrified that he'll ruin it. He's sooooo much better at surprising me too. Boys are lame like that.
