Hey ladies,
I would really like to buy/make my team something for Christmas. I have 16 people on my team currently but it could go up to 18 over the next 2 weeks. I am open to something I can buy or DIY but would like to stay below $10 a piece. Any ideas I dont know why but I am at a complete loss and have spent the better part of an hour googling but I dont know what to really google.
Any help is appreciaited.
Thanks
Re: Gift ideas for group
I was going to say gift card as well -- I always appreciated a gift card to treat myself to a few fancy coffee drinks during the holidays.
Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Panera or something? I would just say pick places that you can actually get something worthwhile for $10.
Maybe that and then a small package of homemade goodies? If you have a special holiday treat you make that you'd like to share - I make a mean fudge so I like to wrap that up and give to neighbors, etc.
I'm new here and I'm not sure what your "team" is about- but although gift cards can be nice, I believe they are sometimes easily forgotten (I mean who is really going to remember with great fondness that you gave them a gift card for some coffee in a few years? But what do I know- maybe that would really rock someones Christmas World
Anyway, I would suggest making something more personal, inexpensive, that can be remembered year after year. Since you did specify Christmas- than I would reccommend making some orniments. You can simply go to Hobby Lobby or Walmart and purchase a basic box of pretty round Christmas balls, if you choose the clear or irredecent ones, you can actually put things inside them- maybe stencil really small their name and the year out of nice paper and drop it inside with some confetti or glitter- You can always include other words that describe them (their best qualities- not the ones you think they should improve on
There is so much you can do, and I think they would truly appreciate the thought and be curious to see what words you chose for them! They would then hang it on their Christmas tree year after year.
There is my two bits. I hope it was helpful!
Merry Christmas!
Michelle
Thanks ladies I appreciate the responses. I am definitely thinking of gift cards, but since I can only spend 10ish a person I wonder if that is enough to feel like a nice gift. If I did something DIY or homemade I might get more bang for my buck, but the gifts may not be as useful. I know I cant please everyone obviously, but I want the team to know I care even though my funds are limited.
Michelle, I cant do ornaments because I have many different religions on my team so I am just calling this a winter appreciation gift, but I do like the idea of something more personalized.
I get lots of little gift cards at this time of the year ($5 and $10) and every little bit helps! It might cover a drink at a restaurant or several drinks at Happy Hour at Sonic (always a personal favorite!).
Since you mean for it to be appreciative, I think the GC should be fine. You could also consider catering a lunch in--with all of our research to get married, you should be able to find someone to do this within your budget. Definitely not pizza! :-)
I was going to suggest bringing in lunch. Also, my department head got us all $5 giftcards and I definitely appreciated it.

At my bridal shower the prizes for games were $10 gift cards. People were really happy with them.
Some good ones: iTunes, Starbucks, Sonic, Jamba Juice, Chick-Fil-A
Also, Julie's idea about catering in lunch is a good one too. Maybe cater in lunch, get a cake that says something about you appreciating them and let them have an hour or so to socialize and eat. I always enjoyed this when I was in a large office.
Also - another thing we did during lunch was do a raffle where everyone drew tickets and there were prizes like a Cheesecake Factory cheesecake, gift cards, etc. Only a few things have to be purchased that way but everyone gets a chance.
BL- My mom and I always get together one weekend in December and bake, bake, bake. We make 3-4 kinds of cookies, candies pecans, almond bark goodies, etc. Then we buy tins, bags, or something cute and load them up with the goodies. These go to all the people who work with or for us, neighbors, and friends.
You can go to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or JoAnns to get really cute tins or boxes to put treats into. Then those can be reused. (PS - Hobby Lobby has it all 50% off this week!)
I like this much better than GC's because it is more personal, and I personally always forget about gift cards.
