Gift ideas for friend's husband?

I have an old, dear friend whose brother married my sister.  So this friend is now my sister's SIL.  Every Christmas, we all do a gift exchange, which includes my friend and her husband.

Every year, I struggle with what to buy for her husband. I would consider him a friend, but I really don't spend enough time with him to really know what to get him. I know he likes movies and hockey (he's from Canada), but that's about the extent of my knowledge. I don't even know what hockey team(s) he follows. I always seem to end up buying him a shirt.

So, what do you get a guy who is more than an acquaintance, but not a close friend? I Google gift ideas, but they're all so typical and crappy.  And it needs to be under $50.

Please?  Anyone? I may call my friend and ask her for some ideas, but I really hate asking for gift lists in general.

Re: Gift ideas for friend's husband?

  • A bottle of scotch (or some other liquor?), cuff links for the shirts you've previously purchased, find out his favorite hockey team and get a tshirt and/or travel coffee mug. I'll ask DH.

  • Tickets to an Aero's game?  I realize it's not nearly as hard core as the Canadians but he might enjoy it.

  • Movie gift card and boxes of movie snacks.  Or a membership to NetFlix.

  • Electric Razor, Slippers, Electric throw blanket, BBQ Set,

  • Thanks for the ideas!  There are some good ones--I'll surf around and see what I can find.

  • DH and I were just remembering the gift card he received to Central Market for a cooking class. He took an awesome beer/grilling class that he enjoyed.

  • My DH loves his weather station. Basically it is another electronic device to play with. You put a sensor outside and the weather station will tell you the current temp/humidity. Some of them are really sophisticated and provide an actual forecast or the amount of rain fall.

It has come in pretty handy for us.

18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

yes.  it is the ONE thing DH was really excited about registering for when we got married.  when it arrived, he almost jumped up and down.  it died after 6 years, and my mom got him a new one for christmas last year, complete with the little wind-cup-spinner thing.

he and the kid LOVE IT.  plus when it's cold or hot, you can know how to dress without going outside.

  • That weather station sounds really cool.  I might actually get one for my husband!

In my searching for some of the items you guys suggested, I actually found something quirky that fits his personality:   Marvel superhero pint glasses. lol
