I don't like being the "fixer"

Someone jacked something up at work.  It's a project that is transitioning to my team as he is moving to another division.  I had said that before we took on the project I wanted all of his outstanding issues wrapped up and complete.  Well they discovered he made some huge errors and its going to be a pain to fix them.  My awesome bosses decided since he has already jacked it up so much that he should wash his hands of it and that I can fix it.  Apparently I have such a good reputation of fixing these types of problems so they want me to do it.  Sometimes it sucks to do a good job.  UGH.

Re: I don't like being the "fixer"

  • I hate when people make errors and your the one that has fix them. Although I have to say, I think it's awesome that they appreciate you, and that your reputation is top notch.

  • It sucks that you are pretty much being punished for his mistakes!

  • That totally sucks! I feel your pain. Over the last year my job has become to do tasks that have been taken away from other people because they screwed them up. I *guess* it should be a compliment that I'm competent and they think I'm smart. But, I really don't want to do other people's crap jobs!
