Will Marriage License work for Dependent card?
We just got married last week and we will be near a base this weekend during reserve weekend so customer service is open to process and get dependent cards.
I haven't updated my driver's license yet, but we have the marriage license/certificate is that going to work to obtain i.d. card?
Thanks for your help.
Re: Will Marriage License work for Dependent card?
Is it a marriage license or a marriage certificate?
For me, the Marriage License (i.e. the thing we filled out at city hall a few weeks before and our priest and witnesses signed after we were married) did not work because it was technically considered a petition for the state to recognize our marriage and was not an official document saying we were married.
We had to wait to get the marriage certificate from the town where we were married and then that worked with a license in my maiden name.
In some states, it is the same paper. I know ours was.
This. Typically, you will need your marriage license, birth certificate, photo identification, and Department of Defense Form 1172 (application form) to apply for an ID card. I didn't have my new SS card so I had to get a notarized letter from the SS office saying that my SS card had been updated (they required that this letter had my new name and my SS number on it. Just the receipt is NOT enough)
