Re: POLL: Yearly Lady Doctor

  • I haven't gone since my 6 week check-up with Zachary; he's almost 2.

    I scheduled my appointment yesterday.

  • I went 5 mos after I had Jane for my yearly and at that time she old me I only needed to come every two years now for the fun PAP.  Sooo, I haven't gone back.  I hope to be pregnant before that time anyway so then I'll be there all.the.freaking.time.
  • All.the.freaking.time just about sums it up for me right now.... otherwise though I do go yearly.  I don't ever go to see my pcp though, so in my head this counts as my physical for the year..... is that awful?

I do the same thing! It counts. They weigh you and take your BP, that's all that matters. LOL!

This is me too minus the pregnant parts.

You didn't give me a SS option. TRICKEY.

    Happiest place on Earth!

  • We need an option for " I'm trying to get pregnant, so I'm there all the frickin time" as well.

Yes!  I voted for SS because I am there ALL the fricking time.  I think that place has more of my blood than I do.

  • I went to my annual appointment for my exam in October. But hopefully next fall I will be going regularly because I will be KU!
  • All the freaking time, for sure. Starting next week I will literally be seeing my OB twice a week and my MFM once a week- gah! Idk how you could have a job with a schedule like that, lol.
  • I'm a special snowflake.  Us infertiles have far too many people looking @ our junk.  More than the pregnant ladies, really. Stick out tongue

  • When I'm not pregnant, I don't go. At my first visit with this pregnancy, they told me that my last PAP was in June of 2008. Oops! It'll be interesting to see how often I go after having this baby/the last baby.
Finally a Mrs as of June 7, 2008

I don't even have a PCP.  I feel like I go to the doctor a lot between allergist, otolaryngologist, dermatologist, gyno, etc., but I don't have a primary doctor for physicals or when I just get sick.  It's on my to do list.

Isn't that what urgent care is for?

  • I have a PCP, and I'm also very prompt with my lady doc visits.

My mother got cervical cancer when she was 29.  It was right after I was born.  She almost didn't go to the appt that caught it because she was so exhausted with college classes and 2 toddlers and an infant.  I thank God every day she just went. Between the time they caught it and the time she went in to have it removed (like a week) the amount of cancer had doublted in size. Luckily, that visit caught it so early that she's been fine ever since. Yes, it terrifies me that that could happen to me, but at least I would know and hopefully know early.  29 is really young to be dealing with that stuff.  I take no chances.

I went to urgent care the other day for an ear infection.  I got to find a PCP though because I have a $50 copay for urgent care, but only $25 for PCP.

That person would be my husband.  He is on my arse all.the.time about finding a PCP and I just.......blah.

I totally use urgent care when I'm sick and feel I need to be seen.  I get asthmatic when I get sick like I am now and the other night I realized my inhaler was gone/no refills.  I looked at DH w/ sad eyes and he actually prescribed me a new one.   He's NEVER done that before, but he knew I was miserable and don't have a PCP.

  • My doctor says that based on my age and history I only need to go every 3 years. I always go on time.
  • I used to go every 6 months when I was younger because my mom has a history of cysts, fibroids, had a hysterectomy at 35..  But now I just go once a year since I have not had any problems.  I do need to make my appt because I think I am due for my annual since my 6 wk pp checkup was last December.  But I did see my OB/Gyn in March to have my Mirena inserted.

SO glad it's not just me.  I apparently have a PCP according to my insurance company, but I've never met the woman or stepped foot in her office.  I was telling DH the other day that I don't know what I'll do if I get sick when I'm not pregnant!
