Has anyone seen the book of mormon on broadway

Hello! I am trying to decide what to see in New York next year - has anyone seen this show? http://www.thebookofmormonmusical.co.uk/ I don't know how offensive it is and want to know it it is appropriate to go and see? I am pretty open minded and liberal but still not sure! I enjoyed Avenue Q if that helps....

Re: Has anyone seen the book of mormon on broadway

  • I haven't seen it but I would love to.  I saw Avenue Q and I assume that it has the same level of crassness.

  • One of my friends saw it and loved it. She also went with her conservative mother and she still thought it was hilarious and wasn't offended.
  • Haven't seen it, but I've heard it's hard to get tickets to.

We were in NYC in November and saw Anything Goes and it was fantastic.  Stephanie J Block was filling in for Sutton Foster (not sure how long her run is) and she was SO good.  The entire cast was great.

  • I haven't but really want to. We just found out it's coming to Chicago so I'm excited to get a chance to see it a little closer to home!

  • It's insane to get tickets for!!! We were going to go as they DO have some tickets left for this year but the prices are insane. We went to Rock of Ages instead. But, we did grab tickets for next year since they just released more!

  • We have tix in May and I'm so excited!  We loved Avenue Q and hope this one is equally offensive :)
  • I'd also recommend Anything Goes and also add How to Succeed in Business. I haven't seen The Book of Mormon, but I have the soundtrack. I think the most explicit/offensive song is this one. If you're okay with that level, then you'd probably be fine. But it is hard to get tickets....

  • Saw it and loved it. It's absolutely hysterical and brilliant.
  • I loved it. It was absolutely hysterical.
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
  • I saw it. If you are a fan of Southpark, you will love it. If foul language, cultural and religious stereotypes and crude humor offend you, you will hate it.

I personally think it is the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. I would go see it again tomorrow and pay for the tickets to do so. I got the cast recording prior to seeing it but didn't listen to it as I didn't want to be spoiled but I would say if you want a hint into what the show is about, listen to Hasa Diga Eebowai. If you laugh, see the show. If you cringe, don't see it.
