I am in the middle of 2 projects. The first is a cowl scarf, like the gorgeous one Panda made a couple weeks ago. My progress is slow, but I'm hoping to finish it by Christmas. I'm 25% done. I also skipping a purl row at one point, so there are "ridges" that shouldn't have been there but I'm too lazy to start over. So I'm working them into the pattern.
My other major thing I'm working on is a homemade Advent Calendar. I need to decorate the ornaments, but this is what it's looking like so far:
I made ornaments out of Sculpey clay, inspired by this on Pinterest: http://gardenmama.typepad.com/my_weblog/2011/01/my-entry-1.html
I tested the decoration part using gold pen. I think I'm going to just write the numbers and then doodle a little bit around them.
Anyone working on fun holiday crafts?
Re: Crafting (Panda, come in!) PIP
Oops! I posted on the wrong board. I hope you ladies are having fun with what you're working on, though!

TTC has me thinking more and more about family traditions and the beauty of handmade things and activities. I loved having an Advent calendar as a kid, and am excited to share that with our kids someday
I'll try to post more around here. I have a lot of ideas and inspiration, I just need to do them!
Thanks for letting me crash your board!

I love that advent calendar! I hadn't seen one like that before.
I like the cowl too. I'm trying to teach myself to crochet and I'm in awe of the patience it takes to make anything!
You should hang out here more often!

And I agree with the other ladies, you should hang out here more!

"People talk about escapism as if it's a bad thing... Once you've escaped, once you come back, the world is not the same as when you left it. You come back to it with skills, weapons, knowledge you didn't have before. Then you are better equipped to deal with your current reality."

The only rule is lots of PIPs, and you've got that covered... so come on back!
I really like your Advent calendar. What kind of material are you hanging the ornaments from?
Well, I was going to use a backless frame and rig jute twine across in rows, but I got nervous that the twine would sag too much once the ornaments were on it. I stumbled upon this aluminum sheet at Home Depot and thought it might be an easier way to hang and display. I just tied ribbon to the top for it to hang. The sheet is 1ft x 2ft (sorry it's not clicky).
