Alright, we are finally making progress with our photog (we have not received all our photos or our album which he promised in writing, blah blah).
Anyway, our lawyer needs a $$$ figure for what it would cost for me to create the same quality album that was part of our package.
The album was a 30 page hardcover, 8x8, with thick, lay flat pages, with professional design work. His contract states that this is a $750 value, but I'm not sure if that's the right # to ask for or not. So I need the cost of someone to design the book, and the cost of printing.
This website is from my photog (before he started doing business under a different name) showing the quality of the books, if that helps.

Any idea what $$ figure our lawyer should ask for? I figured the design work is paid by the hour and I don't know what they would charge. $50 an hour for 5-6 hours of work maybe??
Do you think this is worth cross posting on the Knot? I'm afraid of them over there...
Re: need advice re: $$ and professional photog
I would look for local photogs whose albums you like and ask how much they would charge for that since they didn't take the pics.
Good luck!
Are you looking for 2008 prices or what it would cost today to create that book?
I had a similar book done for my wedding. The price depended in part on the number of photos included. My photog's website says that the pricing for albums starts at $700. I think that is for a more traditional photo stuck to a page sort of thing. I think the coffee table style album, which is what we got and in which they did all the design I just picked which photos I wanted, was more like $1200.
You might try getting a quote from Graphistudio. They may have even done my book through my photog. They're a national company (possibly Italian) and do the type of book you want. Plus then you have the quote so that you could potentially use them to do the book if you ever get your images.
I can't get to your photog's website. It says connect refused. I'm guessing because of my IP address, which makes me think they're even more sketchy.
Can you email me your photog's name? A friend is getting married down near Charlottesville next year and I don't want her to use the same guy.
