Re: stolen poll: favorite things

  • This was harder than I thought!

What are you favorite things that cost:

    $5- Trophy cupcake

$15- Bottle of red wine or a dirty kettle one martini

    $25- Pedicure

$50- A treasure from Nordstrom Rack

    $100- dinner out
  • Huh.... I don't even know

What are you favorite things that cost:

$5 - A chocolate-chocolate-chip cookie from Levain Bakery in New York City.  Absolutely huge, absolutely divine.

$15 - A good (paperback) book... For my Kindle...

$25 - A pitcher of margaritas at the Mexican restaurant down the street from my house (+ the friends to share them with, at no extra cost)

$50 - 2 tickets to a UW basketball game.  Go Huskies!

$100 - A massage.  Yet I rarely ever get them... Or, this week, a round-trip flight from Seattle to San Francisco because of the CRAZY airfare sale going on now!

Complete aside which I just thought of based on the above - uwhuskygirl, not sure when you're coming to SFO but you might check to see if your flight went on sale.  If it did, you can usually call the airline and get a credit back for the difference which is good for a calendar year (from the date you booked the ticket).

Thanks for thinking of me, but I went a few weeks ago.

I saw the Alaska sale too, but I couldn't talk H into another trip down, especially since we have to go back in April for a wedding. Crying

  • Truthful answer would be red wine to all of these, but that isn't any fun.

$5- Lunch from La Vaca or fresh donuts at the Ballard Sunday Market

    $15- Bottle of red wine

    $25- Pedicure

    $50- Brazilian Wax

    $100- Dinner out with DH

How does that generally work? My flight went on sale significantly (like 150 dollar difference). Do you just call and ask? Do they usually say yes? This is on VirginAmerica.

So I don't fly VA often so not 100% sure on them, but most airlines offer you a credit if the fare goes on sale w/in 90 days of purchase.  So, if you bought the plane ticket in the past 3 months and it goes on sale, you can usually call up and ask for it.  If I were you, I would just call customer service, but good luck - with their new ticketing / reservation system problems I hear wait times are horrible!   Also, I've heard sometimes you're assessed change fees which might not make it worth it, but FWIW I change tickets on Alaska all the time and I'm never assessed a change fee when I ask for credit back - they just give me a credit certificate good for one year.  Never hurts to call and check, I suppose!

  • By the way, they have absolutely horrible hold music. All modern, pulsey and makes you want to hang up (on purpose I imagine). Oh well, won't hurt to ask. I can't even change it online at this point and the 75 dollar fee would still make it much cheaper. XD I am going to see if I can try to sweet talk out of it.

$5 - McDonald's fries, and then with the leftover, I'd go get a scoop of custard from Old School.

$15 - A drink or two from rn74 or Canlis in the cocktail lounge.

$25 - More cake and cookie decorating supplies.

$50 - A meal for two at Bizzaro (or a video game or br dvd)

$100 - A joint day snowboarding trip. (Or a good meal. Or a class at the Pantry.)

I think this was hard for me cause I don't think of things I like in the price category I like them in? So I have to think to remember what costs what.
