What to do in Frederick for an afternoon

... before an early dinner at VOLT!!!!  Big Smile

We have a 5:45 table on Sunday, and I figured we could wander around town a bit.  Any particular places we should hit?  We don't really have any Christmas shopping to do, other than maybe some kid stuff we could get for nieces/nephews instead of what I've got in my Amazon cart.

  • Ooh enjoy! When we went to Volt, we got there a little early and just walked around the historic section of Frederick, which is where Volt is located. There are a lot of cute little shops. I can't remember anywhere specific, but you can definitely kill some time.

  • mmmmmmmmmmmm

we did this exact thing when we went last year. There are a zillion antique stores there and the main street volt is on has a ton of fun little shops. just some nice stores to poke around.

there is a "where to shop" and "what to see" link on the top here.

  • Downtown Frederick is super cute. It's very much like Old Town Alexandria. You can just park and walk around. Like Strug said, there are a bunch of antique shops plus cutesy stores and lots of restaurants and bars.

  • If you're into beer, you could visit the Flying Dog Brewery.

And there's another brewery, Brewer's Alley, which is on Market St, a couple of block from Volt.

  • I echo all the suggestions from above. Lots of cute shops to wander around in. Flying Dog is great. Now they have advanced tickets now so check their website for details. I highly recommend the Tuna tartare if that sounds interesting to you at all. We've been to VOLT three times and I've ordered it everytime. My favorite thing for sure (And I'm not normally a raw fish kinda girl). Also a few weeks ago we had a chicken and gnocchetti dish that was outstanding. Bacon in there too. So fabulous. It was brunch so I don't know if they will have it at dinner but it was super.

  • Awesome!  I'm planning a surprise overnight in Frederick for my hubs's birthday in January.

I can't wait to try VOLT! We had reservations there three years ago, and I had to cancel b/c he had to work.  Lawyers.  Le sigh.
