Ugh thank you BF (Semi-formal event)

So last night Justin tells me that his company has extra tickets to an event.  I ask the dress code and he tells me it's business professional.  This morning I google the event and it's a $100 per person charity event.  Nice.  I have cocktail attire but it's more wedding/cocktail party and less professional to wear around his boss/coworkers.  Guess I'm going shopping with not really any money to spend and it's just a few weeks before christmas.  Ugh!  Advice?  I'm going to hit TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Ross.  Maybe i'll have luck.

  • Can you wear one of the more revealing dresses with a shrug or a wrap or a cardigan or something to make it more work-appropriate?

    This is what I'm thinking.

Or do you have a really dressy top and nice black pants? In my business world, this combo seems to be the go to "business party/dinner" attire.
