Poll: Dating at the Office
What do you think. I mean, for any of us clearly we don't as married ladies but in general. When you were single, did you? Is it OK where you work? Common?
Re: Poll: Dating at the Office
I'm asking b/c I've been hearing stories all morning from the party last night. My two teammates both smooched the same guy and didn't know until today! One girl is....kinda slutty....and she smooched a different guy also.
She's slutty in a very hysterical way though and has the best stories (some guy went back to her room during our conference, she turned her back for like 30 seconds, and turned back around and he was stripped naked standing like Captain Morgan with his foot up on the chair. **Bonus, we're moving desks today and sitting next to this naked dude as well as the guy she smooched last night, LOL.
Anyway, there is a lot of dating here, but also a ton of marriages. I think it's b/c everyone is young, smart, etc.
I've always worked with all females so if I was ever single, I wouldn't have had the opportunity. I think I would though, but take it slow. My dad met my stepmom at work.
Edit: Everyone in my immediate dept. now is married or in a relationship. I do know that people within the organization date. (Large hospital).
There have been a few people who have dated at my office. It either never works out, or one of them has quit and now they other isn't dating someone "at the office" per se.
Mike and I met at work.
Rob and I met at work too. But we worked at Kohl's, in college, and I only had a semester left, so we knew it wouldn't be a huge issue if we broke up.
People are allowed to date here but I don't think its smiled upon, legally it makes things complicated. I've heard stories of two coworkers who dated a couple years ago (and who both still work here and are in serious relationships with other people). Apparently things got awkward...like getting drunk and making out at the Christmas party awkward...and we have a small group here (think like 30 people) so everyone knew and coudl tell....yeah...and then when they broke up one took it harder than the other.
Mostly though everyone here is either married or in a serious relationship so it just doesn't come up much.
For the first 8 years at my job I worked with 3 married 40-50 year old men, so that would be a big no for me. Now we have one associate attorney who is a few months younger than me, but blech!
As for an in general, I guess it would depend on how big the company is, how often I'd see him should things go wrong. Also, I don't like being with just H for more than a weekend, so I couldn't imagine working with him, going home to him, spending all my time with him. I'd go insane.
I *think* that it is relatively common at my workplace, but I don't participate in workplace gossip very often so I cannot be sure. I do know that someone in my department is dating someone on and off in another department that we work with and it has caused some major problems. My workplace in general is also a bunch of fresh out of college early 20 year olds (hence staying out of workplace gossip).
My department is very small (15 people) and we rarely talk in great detail with other departments because we are isolated on the top floor which is all private offices. Also, everyone besides me and the guy who dates is 40+ and there are only 2 people who are not married.
I don't think that I would because I am a very emotional person. If we were to break up I would definitely need to look for another job.
