Also, does anyone else find this sort of depressing?

From the "tone" post on ML:

My H's "tone" indicates that he is stressed or irritated about something- who knows what. If I ask him what it is, he won't tell me anyway, so I just try to have minimal interaction with him. If he tries to ask me a question, I answer as briefly as possible.

That's not the deal with my name, though. When he says my name in fights, it's just because he's exasperated. I would love to know what my name sounds like when he uses it lovingly. I honestly don't think it has ever happened. He doesn't even use it casually, like "hey Amy, where are my socks?" Only when he's frustrated with me.

I am sure there are pet names or something used so this isn't a "that's horrible!" post. But for some reason I find it depressing that she has never heard her name used "lovingly" by her husband.

Re: Also, does anyone else find this sort of depressing?

  • Yes and it also seems depressing that her husband takes his stress/irritability on her.

Yeah, that too. More so that he won't tell her what is going on.

I mean, I have my stressed or irritable times as well, but at least I'll tell H I am feeling cranky because of so & so and I just need some quiet time and some space so he is not sitting there wondering if I am irritated at him or something (bonus is that it usually results in a foot massage for me...).

  • The name thing, no.  Mr. Kuus rarely calls me by my name, either.

And the irritability thing, no, I guess not that either.  I get that way sometimes; I'm pissy and asking me why will produce nothing good, because odds are that I have to poop and don't realize it yet.

Or you need a snack Big Smile

Yes, but her husband DOES call her by her name. It just happens only when he is frustrated.

  • Well, no one ever calls me by my name either unless they're scolding me in some way, husband and friends included.  It's always Aletheia! with a disapproving head shake.

    Pretty name Kuus!

  • Well maybe if you didn't do so many things you needed to be scolded for. Hmm...
