So I am in the process of planning a party for Brynnleigh's first birthday and I need a bit of guidance. I want to have it outside of my home but I want to be able to bring in my own food. Also, I would like to have some sort of entertainment for kids of all ages, 1 to 10ish. I have a "theme" in mind but seeing how this is my first birthday party to host I am freaking lost on logistics! I don't want an unorganized gift grab, I want it to be fun for everyone.
Where would you go?
What would you have for entertainment?
How much would you expect to spend (per child)?
I plan to have enough food for the adults but that will be a separate expense.

We had B's at the house, so I'm not much help there. I think you're smart in NOT having it at your house--I was so stressed with B and I swore to myself no more parties at home after it was over. Does the town center let you bring in food? I know you can rent a room...maybe the older kids could take advantage of the gym and use the basketball courts? They've got toddler equipment also, so maybe they'd let you set up a play area for the younger kids, too.
That is actually where I am considering having it.
I just wanted to see if there were other ideas. Jesse found a place called Unplugits in Edmond and really likes that idea (craft paired with play area) but you can't bring in food and for a first birthday party I really feel the need to have food (for all of the adults that will be attending. I didn't know Town Center had toddler equipment so I will have to ask about that. The meeting room there can hold 60 people and I will have plenty of time to decorate so I can still go all out on my theme. The toddler equipment would take care of entertainment for the younger crowd and we had planned to pay for the rock wall for the older kids.

We went WAAAY overboard with Nolan's first birthday. For the record, a park on a Sat in July during the hottest summer in recent history is not an awesome plan. I think we ended up spending about $150 on party favors for the big and little kids. We did brisket, hot dogs, and sides. That, together with cake, I spent about $200. It was nuts. My pearl of wisdom for you is to think about what you want to do, then scale back about 10%. Half of the people that RSVP'd didn't show, and half the people that showed didn't eat. We ate brisket for DAYS!!
I think what you've already got planned is awesome! I cannot believe B is already going to be one! What happened to our tiny babies?! I say if town center has toddler equip (or really even if they don't) it's probably an awesome set up!
