Anybody have a great tried and true sugar cookie recipe. My sisters and I are going to make/decorate cookies tomorrow.
Also, any thoughts on whether I can make the dough today and we can roll it out and bake them tomorrow? Or should I just make the dough tomorrow if that's when we are going to bake them?
Thanks!

Re: Sugar cookies
I always use my moms ancient good housekeeping recipe in her cookbook that is falling apart so I don't have it. You can make the dough ahead of time and refrigerate.
I agree with this. You want the dough to be kind of tough so its easier to cut and handle.
I made these at Halloween (with Halloween colors) and it's the best dough recipe I've used. For "traditional" sugar cookies, just don't do the splitting and food coloring.

I make sugar cookies every year for a cookie swap with my girls from school. They love them! My little secret is that they're the Betty Crocker red pouch sugar cookies. hahahaha
