Wedding Dress: Do you regret the dress you picked out?

Looking back, do you regret the wedding dress you picked out?

I picked out this pretty strapless dress with a semi-cathedral length train. It was very classic and elegant but it was NMS. If I could go back, I would pick maybe a short dress.

Re: Wedding Dress: Do you regret the dress you picked out?

  • No, it was beautiful and I looked amazing in it.  The only regret is choosing to walk down the aisle with XH wearing it!  Also now I feel bad that my parents spent so much money on it and I can't even look at the pictures now....

  • I loved my dress. It was a very last minute purchase, second dress I bought, first dress I tried on. The first dress I bought I also loved. I got it from Ebay, but it didn't fit. When we were a few weeks away from the wedding and I came to terms with the fact that it would never fit, I got the second dress.

I remember buying the dress on ebay at my parents house with my mom as my dad and H were talking in the living room. Then we joined them all giggly b/c I had just purchased a wedding dress online without any real intention of doing so. I ended up giving the dress to a cousin for her wedding.

  • Nope, not at all! It took me a long time to find it (even considered combining two dresses into one), but I was thrilled with the dress I finally decided on.

It was perfect and I wouldn't change anything!

  • Nope, I love the dress I picked. It was not at all what I thought I had wanted but when I tried it on it just clicked with my personality  and my body type.
  • No, I really loved my dress.  It was one of the first ones I tried on and it just felt right.
  • Love, love, love my dress.  I had it made for me and it was gorgeous!
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • I loved my dress but I wish I'd gotten ivory instead of white now.
  • I bought my dress a year ago and still have 6 months until the wedding lol. I've been told it's a major wedding no-no, but I still love it and still can't wait to wear it and it still fits, so I guess I got away with it ; )
  • I hated my dress right after I bought it, like HATED.  I tried to sell it and kept trying on dresses, however I wasn't finding what I wanted.  I mentioned to my mom that I could possibly have something made out of my dress, this is what ended up happening.  I love how it turned out.

Is that the dress you're wearing in your picture? I love it!!

  • I loved my dress! And I still love it. It wasn't a wedding dress, I bought it online then just had it altered to fit me a bit better, and I felt so comfortable in it all day and night. I'd love to put it on again somday...with a girdle on underneath? haha

Yes, it's at our English reception.  It looked totally different originally. The before and after is in my blog.

  • I loved my dress and would pick it again in a heartbeat.
  • Yes. It showed too much boob. It was gorgeous but I didn't have enough time to have it properly altered to all my guests got an eyeful.

  • I loved my dress. It was made for me from 3 different pics that I had seen in some wedding magazines.

  • Nope, still very happy with my choice.  Actually, when I tried it on, my sister is the one who told me it was my dress.  I loved the bodice embroidery but was not as excited about the flower embroidery on the skirt.  I didn't buy it that day and went back several times to look at it, asking if the skirt could be made without the flowers.  Nope, that is how it came......ended up being perfectly happy with the skirt after all.
  • My wedding dress will probably always be my favorite, coolest dress ever. I wish I had a reason to wear it again!

  • I liked the one I wore at my wedding in Switzerland and it worked well for the style of wedding we had. However, I still have my origin dress that I bought before I moved to Switzerland that was suppose to be my wedding dress. I haven't tried it on in a year and a half. I hope I still like it when I wear it for the church ceremony next year. I hope it still fits too. I had some alterations on the bust only and I've gained a little weight. *sigh* After the holidays it's time to get back in shape.

Now Nesting from Chicago, IL My nail blog:
  • Since getting married 5.5 years ago, I have seen one dress since that I liked better than mine, but that was a friend whose mom made her dress, so I at least didn't feel like "oh, if only I had seen that one in a store!" because, well, I couldn't have.

The one regret I have is that I tried on a dress pretty much identical to the one I picked out, but in mocha. Brown does great things for my skin and hair, and that light golden-y mocha made me glow. I walked out of the dressing room and my mom, my mom's best friend, and about 4 other ladies sitting around for other people gasped and were like, "That's the one!!!" But I felt like I had to get the color ok'd by DH first, and he didn't really like the idea of a non-white (or shade of white) wedding dress. To this day I think that if I had shown him a picture he would have said yes.

  • No - I loved my dress! I felt it was classic, with just enough detail, and I loved the style. I would choose it again in a heartbeat!

  • I love my dress, my only regret is that it cost so much (which wasn't a lot really, ?550 in an ex-sample sale). I'm not sure it was the best, most flattering dress on me, but it wasn't bad, and it made me feel pretty.

  • DH and I only had a civil ceremony so my dress wasn't a "wedding dress". I bought it in Bath, England when we decided to get married (long story!). I love it and still do, it was just a summer dress, but it was white with green flowers and a green sash. I bought a very cute pair of green flats with a big flower on the toe.

I was engaged before DH and had bought a beautiful, lace, ivory color dress. I still have it and love it but I wouldn't wear it if DH and I had another "real" wedding. I've tried selling it, anybody want it? :D

  • I loved my wedding dress, 100%.  There have been a few gowns that I've seen since that I think are stunning as well, but I doubt any of them would have fit me as well.  I don't have mine anymore...I donated it to Bride's Against Breast Cancer before we moved here, so I hope someone else loves my dress as much as I did!

  • No regrets, I like the dress and I like how it looked on me.

  • No regrets. Was beautiful on me, fit well, held in the girls without needing anything else, and the colors of the embroidery set the wedding colors. And it wasn't too heavy which was nice during the swing dance portion.

  • sort of, but I don't know what I would have chosen instead. I was engaged for a year and a half. I never found "the dress." I bought my dress off the rack about a month before my wedding. It was cheap. It fit. It wasn't ugly. I didn't love it.
