S/O Holiday Decorating
Do you decorate? To what extent?
When do you start decorating?
Where did you get most of your decorations?
I'm struggling with motivation because it's just me and the dogs... so it's kind of like, "why bother?" That being said, I think I'd enjoy having a tree... just hard to get it and put it up by myself... so looking for some inspiration.

Do you decorate? To what extent? My decorating is only winter decorations. We don't do a tree or lights.
When do you start decorating? Right after Thanksgiving
Where did you get most of your decorations? If I come across something wintery I like I tend to get it. Snowmen are my biggest downfall.

What if you just did a little one! I would totally do it, there is just something about getting decorations out that adds so much to the feel of the season.

Do you decorate? To what extent? I go all out because I love love love Christmas
When do you start decorating? Usually mid november with the "wintery" themed stuff and by the end of November the tree and everything else is up (we don't have to compete with Thanksgiving because ours is always earlier in October)
Where did you get most of your decorations? Honestly, I got a lot of stuff at the dollar store. Most of my Christmas tree decorations that are store boughten are from there to fill in the gaps with our travel ornaments. I also have a bunch of stuff from when I was younger that I inherited. Every year I add to it so that it isn't a huge expense at any given time. Start slowly and build up your stash.
My sister lives alone and I got her a little coffee table tree that was actually pre-lit and decorated from Michaels last year to get her in the christmas spirit. I agree with Liz that a small tree might do the trick (and it will be significantly cheaper as well)Do you decorate? To what extent? Oh yes - we are big decorators. We have the tree and stockings and lights hung all around. We also have lots of stuff outside and window lights.
When do you start decorating? Usually around the second week in November, so right before Thanksgiving we will put the tree up. Everything else goes up the day after Thanksgiving.
Where did you get most of your decorations? When we first moved in together one of the first things we bought was a Christmas tree (fake, obviously). Christmas is my favorite and nothing gives me more peace that relaxing and watching tv under the Christmas lights. We build it up every year. Our first year a store was going out of business and we bought lots of Christmas stuff on clearance. We have ornaments from when we were kids and usually get new ones every year.
I agree with PP, a small tree would definitely put you in the spirit and not take up too much space
Do you decorate? To what extent? Yes we do! A tree, some outdoor decorations, and some stuff on our floating shelves. Oh, and we have a little Christmas village that we set up on our big pass through window in the hallway.

Where did you get most of your decorations? Places vary-but always after Christmas! ETA: Jon and I always get each other ornaments for our stockings every year. And we always get an ornament when we go on vacation.
I love this idea... Jesse and I always bought a magnet everywhere we went but I like the ornament idea... I'm sure it must be an awesome time of reminiscing when you put the tree up.
Do you decorate? To what extent? Yes. We have a little 4ft tree we decorate. I hang up stockings, put out some holiday candles, and trade normal decor for Christmassy stuff... I don't have a ton do stuff right now, so I don't go all out with it.

Where did you get most of your decorations? Collected over the years growing up. My grandmother and aunt would give me things here and there to "build my collection" as they say. I also have some of my mom's decor that neither my dad nor brothers wanted any more, but we're special to me.
Edit: ornaments also came from childhood mostly.. I also buy a new one a year for us now. Like first married Christmas was a silver M for our last name, last year I got one on our vacay in the mountains which was a little bear, this year I got one while away again, but it was a pretty glass one.
I think a little tree is a great idea. Our little one is really easy tout up and take down. Maybe look for one that has just a few main pieces (provided you are going fake of course).
