lost another house!

So I found a second house I want to buy in my price range (back story the first house I wanted : on the day I went to put an offer on it, it was pulled for auction, so I figured out how to bid at auction (its online before live) and then came in second place in the online bidding and lost!)

Someone else bought this second house that same morning!

$&*#$)(*#

My price range is about 50% of the average house cost in my town so it's very competitive. That second house had only been on the market 5 days!  I'm starting to look at condos but even the three bed ones are too expensive, so maybe  a 2 bed?  I have two boys that could share a room but long term....I don't know.  Maybe I should rent and save up for a couple of years.  It would be so much easier if I had the flexibily to move elsewhere (w/o shared custody issues) - my mom has a rental property she said I could have but she lives on the opposite coast (3000 miles away)

Re: lost another house!

  • Sorry to hear that. I know how frustrating that can be, but I do not recommend getting a 2 bedroom if that's not going to work-out for you long term.

I also have 2 boys, and before I bought my house, I rented for 1 year. It sounds like this could be an option for you, so why wouldnt you? OR, why wouldn't you want to take your mom on her offer of the rental house?

  • HeyNey - yes I may rent though mortgages seem lower than rentals right now.  My mom's rental house is on the west coast (I'm on the east)- I can't move back home because of shared custody.

I just want to fine my new home and start to get settled

  • I understand about just wanting to get settled. I hope you find something that works.
