My in-laws have offered to pay 1/2 towards a Dyson Vaccum for Christmas. Does anyone have one that they'd recommend? We do have a dog - who sheds minimally, if that makes a difference. Thanks!!

Re: Dyson Vaccum
I think you can't go wrong no matter which Dyson you pick.. Ours is a D-14 Animal (its purple and about 5 yrs old). It is almost disgusting how much it picks up out of my carpet, even after 5 yrs!

I LOVE my Dyson (I blame SmTaylor!!) I have the DC34? I think? It's not an aniaml one, but it kicks butt on dog hair, and all the other stuff, I got this one becasue we have hardwood floors, so if I don't feel like sweeping, I can use the vacuum on the floors.
Also, if you go to BB&B, you can use the 20% off coupon!
We also have the Animal 28 (I think...it's purple w/o ball) - we used to have 4 cats and needed it for all the hair. LOVE it! I was tired of buying a new vacuum every year, so did the research and spent the $$$ to buy a Dyson. I also was able to use the 20% off at BB&B for it. Although, recently I think I saw in the fine print that you're no longer able to use on Dyson.
I think you can't go wrong with any of them, but if you have pets, I would probably lean more towards the animal.
Question for you long time Dyson owners. I've heard that while they are great for cleaning, that they are really hard on your carpet. Have you noticed any extra wear on your carpet since you began using a Dyson?
