Had a great weekend with D!
I went down to see his son's final football game. It was the state championship so it was a really big deal for him so I was thrilled he invited me along! We went to the game with his two daughters so I was able to get to know them a bit better.
I met the ex again when we picked them up and she wanted to chat with me since I will be going down to Florida with D and the kids over NYE. She came off as a bit "fake", giving me a big hug and chatting me up like we're old friends. My guard was definitely up but I was obviously polite and gracious. She told D later that she liked me... not that I care but if it makes his life easier when he deals with her in regards to the kids, all the better.
The game was great... it was awesome to see D cheering on his son. I brought my camera along so once the game was over I ran onto the field with the rest of the pro-photographers and grabbed some really great photos for D since security was holding him and the rest of the parents back.
The next day we had a few hours to ourselves before picking up the girls again and he said it meant a lot to him to have me there last night and he really appreciated how I conducted myself. I wasn't too sure what I meant and he just said it was great to be able to do his own thing like talking to coaches/parents without having to constantly babysit me and make sure I was being entertained. Apparently he spent a lot of time walking on eggshells waiting for the ex to explode because he wasn't reading her mind attending to her every whim.
We then picked up the girls and I met his Mom... she was lovely and seemed to like me. We then took the girls to a movie and I went home! Overall, it was a great weekend! It was on the tip of my to drop the L word a few times, but I stopped myself and he just laughed and gave me a kiss. I actually did say it to him once casually and he totally didn't hear me! It was really funny... we're going away for the weekend and I'm sure I'll say it to him then and make sure he can hear me. 
I know he feels the same way about me, but he's admitted that after his marriage, he's not quite sure what love is anymore even though he's wanted to say it to me at times. His marriage was NOT good but he made the commitment to stick with it for the kids, so once it ended he was relieved but also pretty shattered over the entire concept of marriage/love and what the two mean to him. So I'm not sure if he'll say it back to me, but I'm totally ok with it. He's said he's not sure if he's scared to say it but he does know that when he does say it, he wants to really mean it. I've told him that I know he may not be ready to say it, but he definitely makes me feel loved.
Sorry about the novel, but it all just started coming out!
