I had a little bit of time while Tim was holding Adrie to write up something quick - a more detailed one will be in my blog at some point, but I didn't want to forget anything! And I'll have more pics on FB tomorrow probably.
We welcomed Adriana on Friday, Dec 2, at 2:52pm. She weighed 7lbs 14.5oz and was 20? inches long. We got home a few hours ago and are all adjusting to our new life! We are so in love with her and can't believe she's ours!
Here's the (totally not) short birth story:
I was in early labor most of Thursday and overnight into Friday (contractions were getting stronger, but were about 8-12 minutes apart). Around 4am Friday I could tell they were getting stronger and by 5am I knew we'd be going to the hospital that day. I went upstairs to get DH around 6:30am and he knew right away that he wasn't going to work!
We left for the hospital around 7:45am, contractions were 4-6 minutes apart and getting pretty unbearable. They admitted me right away but the nurse told me I was only 2cm - I was bummed! But an hour later my OB told me I was 4cm and she broke my water. Pretty quickly after that my contractions were coming every 2 minutes or so.
I ended up getting an epidural (which was amazing) about an hour after they broke my water. I was checked right afterwards and was told I was 5-6cm. I even cat-napped over the next couple of hours. An hour after the epidural, I was at 9cm and probably an hour after that I was 10. I wasn't feeling any urges to push so they let me contract a little longer. 45 minutes later I decided to try to start pushing and after half an hour, she was here!
My epidural was still going strong through the pushing and I know people complain about not being able to feel when/where to push, but let me tell you, I thought it was great! The nurse and OB told me when I was pushing right, so it was pretty easy after that. I could still feel the sensation of her actually being born but I didn't have to feel the 2nd degree tear! She came out all in 1 push - her head came out and by the time they told me to push to get her shoulders, she basically just fell out. She spent such a small amount of time in the birth canal, she didn't even have a conehead.
She scored 9 and 9 on her APGARs and actually breastfed soon after they put her on my chest after DH cut the cord. She has a good latch and picked up on it really quickly!
Recovery has been pretty good. I
almost fainted in the bathroom after delivery so I wasn't allowed to get
out of bed on my own until yesterday afternoon. Other than that I'm
just sore and swollen, but I'll take it for what I got out of it!

Re: Birth Story and a PIP
I'm not FB friends with you (or anyone) so I wasn't able to see a pic until now. She is beautiful!! I'm so happy that everything went smoothly and you are now home with your baby girl.
