Help finish a gift?

I'm involved in another gift exchange and need help finishing off their gift. They really want a mandoline slicer for their kitchen. I bought that. I found a cookbook we'd talked about before on sale, but now it's backordered.

I have about $8 bucks to spend, what would you send with the mandoline so that it doesn't look like a thoughtless gift?

  • Cute pot holder or oven mitt

    Kitchen towels

  • Or a cut resistant glove to use with the mandoline, though I think a mandoline is a fantastic gift? I don't think I'd think of it as thoughtless.

  • Ross can have SUPER cute aprons and stuff on sale - maybe go check there for aprons, dish towels, etc?  Who doesn't love an adorable (and oftentimes completely not practical) apron?

Brilliant. Seeing as how I can see the Ross sign from my office and never even thought to go there to finish off this gift.

  • Wow, a mandoline is completely not a thoughtless gift. I wanted one for 2 years and had it on our wedding registry and didn't get it (so MIL got it for me for the next Christmas). However, if you want to pair it with something else, ditto the apron, dish towel, potholder. Or, you could make a cute little booklet with some recipes that would use it. (Two salads: 1) sunchokes with fennel and 2) fennel and grapefruit)
