S/O WFD

How do you deside what you'll be having for dinner for the week? Is it you, DH or a combination ?

For us, I'm the main chef and H is the sous chef. I have some staples that we always get and then I ask if there is anything he would like me to make for dinner this week.

  • I do 99.8% of the cooking.  So it's whatever I feel I'm in the mood for.  We always have spaghetti once a week,  it's one of DHs favorites.  I ask DH what he's hungry for and he always responds with "I don't care".  I'll ask him what side he wants to go with whatever meat, and he'll respond with "I don't care".  It gets a little frustrating.

When he does his .2% of the cooking it's chili.  He also *usually* does all the grilling, we tend to use our grill all year round, unless it's piled under a bunch of snow.

  • Rick does the cooking and I do the shopping so I make the menu and he just cooks what I tell him to.

  • I plan the menu with some input from him but mostly since I do the cooking we eat what I want.

  • Brian and I plan the menu together but I do the grocery shopping and most of the cooking. However, I dedicate one night where Brian cooks.

Also, we have a rule in our house-whoever cooks, does the dishes. :-) So, naturally I do most of the cooking.Devil

  • I plan the menu, but DH has veto power if he doesn't want something I have on our 2 week schedule.  He also knows where i keep the recipes for the two weeks, so he can cook should he need to or arrive home before me.  We also improvise some nights if what's on the menu doesn't appeal to either of us (i.e. the baby in my belly) and we keep a few quick emergency meals on hand should we have a late night at work or running errands and need something that cooks quickly.

  • I do the majority of the planning, based off what we already have and what is on sale. I usually ask DH if he has any requests for the coming week and he might give me one idea. I was joking with him a few weeks ago that I was going to let him be in charge of planning, shopping and cooking for 1 week so he can see the work that goes in to it. He didn't like that idea so much (but he would really do it if I asked).
  • I plan 99.9% of it, so whatever I make is what we eat. I ask him periodically if there are things he'd like to have coming up

  • we sit down and just talk about what we want to eat that week.  He does most of the cooking, but there are few dishes that we eat that I can't make so that doesn't really matter to us.  We basically just have a rotation of our usuals that we go through
