We went in for a follow up with his surgeon because of the ER visit Saturday night, and he sent us right to the hospital. They are pretty sure he has a staph infection, so are treating him for it pretty aggressively. He will be there until at least Wednesday while they wait to see if it is MRSA, and will have a pic line with IV antibiotics for 3 weeks.
I wish I could give the receptionist at the surgeons office a big hug. When I called in this morning, she told me they didn't have any openings until Thursday. I convinced her to talk to his nurse, who also said that he was already overbooked. I insisted that he needed to be seen, so the receptionist scheduled us at an already booked time anyway. His leg was even worse tonight after being in the hospital and on meds, so I am so grateful he got in today and we aren't dealing with this at home.
I am so exhausted after dealing with this all weekend. I'm hoping that knowing he is being taken care of, and not having to get up to give him meds every couple of hours means that I will actually sleep tonight.
Please continue your T&Ps for DH. He's so uncomfortable and frustrated with everything. I really hope that by midday tomorrow, after his 3rd bag of antibiotics, that he will be feeling a difference.
Re: DH was admitted today
You poor thing.
I hope he gets better soon.
OMG! I'm so sorry you guys are going through this right now.
Where is your DH at? If there is anything we can do, please let us know.
Thoughts and prayers with all of you!

Thoughts and prayers for J (and you)! I had a similar situation my senior year in HS but on a smaller scale. Right after winning state vb, I got staph in my knee (probably from knee pads). It felt like I was kneeling on a tennis ball so I went to the doctor where he drained a bunch of green crap out of it and sent me on my way. The next day I literally could not bend my knee. I called them and told them I NEEDED to be seen so I was the last appt of the day. I went in and the doc said the results came back and it was Staph and E.Coli! So I was admitted right away and put on IV antibiotics and had to pack the wound until it healed. I was sent home days later on oral antibiotics. I ended up with thrush from all the antibiotics and could hardly eat. I lost probably 10 lbs but hey, I fit into my dress for the Sweetheart dance that I was a candidate for so bonus
Hope everything goes okay and let me know if you need anything since i'm close by!

Seriously, thank you all for the comments and T&Ps, it really means a lot. I went to see DH before work today, and he actually slept last night for the first time in 5 days. This has helped his attitude immensely. I'm not sure that his knee is much better yet, but I'm happy with the better attitude. Thankfully, being only half days at work really helps so I can still work but be with him the rest of the day too.
They will drain his knee again this morning to see if anything is growing and if they need to do surgery to flush it out. Otherwise, we are just waiting out the infection.
Glad to hear he is in better spirits. My dad had to have surgery right away to flush is out which I think added to his pain so if they can avoid that for your DH that would be great!
T's & P's Bryn! Let me know if I can do anything for you! Hope he's feeling better today.
