Fun Philly things to do for a girls weekend?

Hi ladies!  I'm usually over on the DC board, but I need your help!  We're planning a girl's weekend Jan. 21-22 to celebrate a friend's 30th birthday, and are thinking of heading to Philly.  Probably is, I don't know what's fun or what areas are good... help!  I know that Reading Terminal Market is cool to walk through, are there any cute areas for shopping, cool events going on, great places to eat and/or awesome things you can't see or do outside of Philly?  Caveat is that the birthday girl is preggo, so wine tastings or anything along those lines are out.  I was thinking that we might see Jersey Boys, but it looks like that's done in Dec. :(  Thank you SO MUCH in advance!!

  • There are so many things to do!  This local blog that has upcoming events, etc.  Be sure to check out the 'weekend' tab. This local blog is also good.  And Living Social & Groupon usually have deals on different activities that you can buy now but use a few months down the road.

Old City is the clubbish area, with a lot of cocktail bars/lounges. It tends to get very crowded and it's pricey, but it's probably worth checking out early in the evening.  Personally, I prefer the Rittenhouse Square area for going out (Old City is very popular with the college crowd).

South Street is just rough anymore, and I try to avoid it after dark.

And for dining, you should definately check out any of the Stephen Starr restaurants.  There are maybe 15 of them, and each one has it's own menu/vibe.  Some people might not like how trendy they are, but they are certainly fun.  The cocktail & food menus are great, and very theme specific to each restaurant.
