stbxh moved out! Also wanting to back out of winter formal...

stbxh moved out a few nights ago, so far I don't feel much different except it is much more work in the morning getting myself and my son ready for work/daycare.  Also, I have been way too busy to even get settled in at home.

Winter formal is coming up this Saturday, I have a few dresses and was planning to go with a black strapless dress (with bolo to keep warm) that has a belt at waist and then spread out and knee length. It is cute but now I am having serious doubts.  If we were just going to the restaurant, that is one thing but we are planning to go to the Christmas in the Park afterwards and stroll with a bunch of people to look at tons of lighted trees and enjoy music and hot drinks... all I can think is I am going to freeze to death.

This morning, on way to work, I am wearing pants and thick coat and I was so cold.

So how can I dress formal and yet be very warm? I am so not good at pulling outfits together.  I am contemplating on going now.

  • add thick tights and cute boots and if your budget permits, splurge on a swing coat

  • Glad he moved out!  I agree with tights, a cute coat.  Booze keeps me warm too!

  • Thanks ladies, I will go shopping for tights and definetly will get a new coat of some kind, I need one anyways since my current winter coat is getting too tight.

I would prefer warmer shoes such as boots but I am not sure I can picture boots with the current dress.   I may just get a different dress to ensure I stay warm.. I rather be warm than being misserable by being too cold.

  • Yes on the tights and boots (knee high). And in addition, bring a flask with your favorite booze so you can carry it around to keep warm ;)
