SO. GOOD.
Flo-rida's song was amazing, we were totally jamming to it. I thought the acapella was spot on with that song.
I was so excited to see Street Corner Symphony again, but I thought they weren't blending as well as before... it could have been better.
I wish there was more Committed performing by themselves, and I did wonder why Shawn didn't perform with them but then again it could have been too much of the same sound going on if he did.
Nick was so sexy... love his voice.
I'm so over Urban Method's rapper guy.
I loved seeing the Beezlebubs again, they are so fun!
Sara's performance with Ben was great, and while I find Ben adorable and musically smart... I can't stand it when he sings!
Overall, it was a great special and I cannot WAIT for next season!
Re: Singoff Christmas 12/6
I haven't watched the special yet (DVRed it) but I'm excited to do so.
If you haven't ever seen them, I'd highly recommend you check out Straight No Chaser. They broke into professional a capella with their Christmas music and their CDs (Christmas and non-holiday) are GREAT. They even have a few music videos on their website. I'm not soliciting for them, I'm just a fan.
I've heard of them from somewhere... maybe the Macy's Thanksgiving parade??
ETA: I checked them out, and they were the ones I saw perform during the parade... as soon as they came on I thought "They should be on the Sing-Off!"
LOVED IT!
I can't believe that Straight No Chaser was on at the same time. We were recording Monday night sitcoms too, so we couldn't watch both. Did nobody realize that was a schedule conflict??
Anyway, I loved the show. I did watch both of the other seasons, but I didn't remember everyone and a part of me wanted it to just be this season's groups. It was also weird that some of the songs weren't holiday songs.
I'm actually a Ben Folds fan (DH and I went to a concert of his for our anniversary this fall) so I loved his duet with Sara. I was glad that he got to play the piano even though it's an a capella show.
I'm glad Shawn got to perform this time too!
I'm ready for next season already!
If SNC was also on your local PBS affiliate the same night, no, I don't think PBS usually would check local listings to see about a potential conflict simply because they are PBS.
SNC probably wouldn't ever appear on the Sing-Off since SNC is signed with Atlantic records, a competing label of Sony's.
Either way, if they are coming to your area, I'd HIGHLY recommend attending a concert. We went to one 2 years ago and had the BIGGEST smile on my face afterwards. Their original songs are awesome and their arrangements of other songs are pretty cool as well. Even Dh had a great time and didn't mind that I was swooning over other men.
I just went to a SNC concert last weekend. They were great! I would highly recommend it to anyone.
As far as the Sing Off, I wasn't impressed. It sounded like everyone was off a little bit. Maybe they didn't have that long to practice.
I was so excited to see the 'Bubs again!
And I loved Ben Folds and Sara singing "Baby Its Cold Outside"
